Was out metal detecting finding some goodies
Was hunting around an old barn circa 1900 and was finding a lot of trash and just junk. Then I hit a high tone about 8 inches deep, as I was removing the soil I saw a glass bottle. Thinking to myself there must be some metal under it. To my surprise I picked up the bottle and it was full of buffalo nickels. I took everything home cleaned with water and then put in my ultrasonic cleaner with just distilled water and dawn. The dates vary from 1930 to 1937 all cleaned up very well.

That's a very cool discovery, Handloader. And that "Safe Milk for Babies" bottle is a great bonus! Thanks for sharing the story with us.

Very cool find!
That's one of the best treasures I've ever seen, and the bottle is still intact!
I wonder what the story was that led to that being buried.

Makes me want to go out and buy a metal detector. That's amazing.
Re: Was out metal detecting finding some goodies
Pretty cool story. Bet those nickels are worth more than a nickel

Great find. If you don't already have a nickel collectors book (the one where you insert the coins above the dates) you may want to get one. Also as you probably already know there are 3 different mints. No Mark, Philly, "D" Denver and "S" San Francisco.

I was just watching a video on magnet fishing. They found some cool stuff but not as cool as your milk jug and nickels.
