I like Jeeps. Some are really set up nicely! Nice enough, that I will offer to pull them out with my 3'rd Gen 4-Runner if they get stuck... :!:

I bought an old Army Jeep yrs. ago, 1954 model w/ the overhead valves. Re-worked the engine, painted it. Made a good workhorse
in the woods cutting firewood. It had a couple of bullet holes in the side. Korea maybe? "Nam?
It would run 45 mph, tops.
Traded it in to a 1978 Bronco. Wish I had it back. Jeep prices are ridiculous.
I had a '53 CJ3B from early '70s to '84 when I bought a Ramcharger. It came with a heater (no defroster) that I think was an add-on.

Only things I added was a driver's side electric wiper, it came with vacuum wipers, if you were going up hill you had to get off the gas to get a swipe. Also installed bigger brakes, when the stock brakes got hot you could literally stand on the brake petal and it would barely slow it down.

Pretty basic, no carpet, no radio, top speed around 60 mph if not going uphill but after a engine rebuild it was very dependable. Had several MG's during that time but they were often down for repair. The jeep and my Honda MT250 Elsinore were my daily driver's.

Wish I still had both of them.

as mentioned in the opening post in this thread, my first vehicle was a 1965 Jeep CJ5 .... a heater was a dealer installed option that came in a box in the back .... 2 front seats, no back seat .... no top .... no seat belts .... no radio .... she would do 55 falling off a cliff .... the gas tank was literally mounted between the bottom of the driver's seat and the inside floor .... 4 cylinder Dauntless engine .... 3 speed manual tranny with 2 leavers controlling the 4 wheel drive .... factory installed drain holes in the driver and passenger's floorboard .... we had the heater installed along with a metal Kelly Cab and added Warn manual hubs .... I commuted from home to Western Carolina University for 4 years and she was my daily driver .... in looking back, I wish I still had it

Mine had a heater, no defroster. I made one out of a vacuum hose & carpet attachment. Added an electric wiper motor. Very basic, by design. No need for bells & whistles for US use. Made a front & rear bumper out of heavy channel iron. Mostly scrap stuff.

I like the new Jeep pickup. Once we're done running the big diesel F350 rigs here, that might the way to go.

we saw a bunch of them towing small to medium length travel trailers while in Texas .... granted the land was pretty flat but none of them showed any difficulty towing their loads

I still haul a stock trailer around so can't let the diesel go just yet, but maybe one day.
