NICE Jeep

Post by JEBar » Thu Oct 17, 2019 4:03 pm

my first vehicle was a 1965 Jeep CJ5 and even before then, I was a Jeep fan .... ran across the one below where we are camped near Saluda, VA .... in my mind, its one fine looking Jeep 8-)

.
I had CJ5, I think was a 1968. It moved on in 1979. My son was a newer one.

I'd agree. I would have skipped the blue accents myself and stuck with a blacked out theme, but that's just me. A few years ago, I looked HARD at a Jeep at a dealership in Richmond. My credit union had preapproved me at 1.9% for twice the Jeep's sticker price.

It was black, nice Charcoal wheels, hard and soft top, winch and lighting package, carpet delete... We kayak fish, so the rubberized flooring was just what you need coming off a pond with slimy mud covered feet. It had a modest lift to go with the 4wd, towing package to handle the light kayak trailer. Perfect....

Asked what the price would be with a check in hand from the credit union, no trade in to worry about. He pointed to the sticker. No discounts, we sell every jeep on the lot before new models arrive. "No incentives at all"?

"If you buy today, I'll push the boss to give you the veteran's appreciation from Jeep. $250 toward the purchase, or $500 credit toward Jeep accessories from the parts depadtment."
I told him I would let him know. ;)

What happened?
We are driving two Nissan Pro4x pick ups ...
A 2010 Titan, and a 2015 Frontier.

If I do buy a Jeep? I will buy used, for cash. Tinker and tweek to get what I Want. That's half the fun, right?

I like our 2016 Wrangler and have done a few things to it. I put on some LED fog Lights and they are bright. Jeeps headlights suck to put it mildly and I did some changing there but still not what I would call great. But there is no end to what one can do with there Jeep thats for sure.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

That's a nice thing about a jeep, there are catalogs filled with ways to make it yours.
We would set it up to tow the yak trailer when appropriate, and use it for short runs into town and such, instead of either of the larger trucks. A fun ride. :D i would either black it out and just do blacks and dark grey. Go camouflage in woodland or desert, or, WWII Marine livery, even on a modern jeep, just for fun. :D

Jim's right: interesting color scheme. And that's a lot of silver screw-heads! But, to each his/her own, and it's probably a certainty that there are no two Jeeps exactly alike ANYWHERE!

Hey All,

Nice jeep in a Darth Vader kind a way. Fine if you're into that. I'm not. I like light an functional. Heavy wide tires and heavy bumpers an all that just increase wear an tear and cost you fuel economy for no real functional advantage that I can see. My goal is to keep my wrangler light an functional and let the heavy jeeps pay the extra costs. Mine is a daily driver to work and back and it's been in southern alberta, BC, all over Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon off road and on.

I plan to put tubular bumpers a winch, black rhino bantam wheels maybe a carrier on top. I do like the idea of some kind of teardrop trailer.

With jeeps to each their own...

I bought an old Army Jeep yrs. ago, 1954 model w/ the overhead valves. Re-worked the engine, painted it. Made a good workhorse
in the woods cutting firewood. It had a couple of bullet holes in the side. Korea maybe? "Nam?
It would run 45 mph, tops.
Traded it in to a 1978 Bronco. Wish I had it back. Jeep prices are ridiculous.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.
