I bought an '82 F150, 302 V8 new. Best truck I ever had. Put 300k miles on it. Bench seat, single cab, manual everything, AM radio. Only option on it was sliding rear window. Great truck.

Have had three F-150's. Never had a major problem. Still own my '99.

I usually drive them until the wheels fall off. Owned my 4X4 Silverado 2500 for 18 years before giving it to my son. I bought my 2018 Mazda 6 last year and probably may be the last car I own.

When young, we think about out next car and how we will pay for it; usually happy with what we end up with.
Ya know you're getting old when the first priority upon a vehicle purchase now, is how long it will last, and hope we don't have to worry about it again.
If I have to buy another, that is what I hope for.
Ya never know though. If I live to be 100, then that car would have to last 35 years. :D
I assume somewhere in there, I would be barred from driving though.

.
Used to be that a car was shot and falling apart as it got to up 100,000 miles. My 2000 Tundra is coming up on 20years old and has about 123,000 on it. It's in great shape and I have no doubt it'll make it another 15 yrs or more. Depending on where one lives and how the vehicle is used, not unreasonable to expect to see newer vehicles last for 35 yrs or more. We'll see.

I just bought my 45th vehicle that I have owned. Right now I own a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has 200k miles on it and runs like new. I just retired it from daily use to my weekend vehicle to go to the mountains and desert. I bought a gently used 15 Ford Escape for my work commute. Get about twice the mpg as my Jeep. Over the years my vehicles have been mostly 4x4 trucks or Jeeps with a few Classic cars in the mix. I always have a few cars or trucks at a time. I have owned many motorcycles over the years too. The last few were Harley touring bikes. Oh I didn't even mention the fact that my Wife doesn't drive. She was blind most of her life up until 1996 when she had eye surgery and can now see pretty good though chooses not to try driving.

No more cars here at my house if I can help it. I hate the entire car buying experience

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

In my entire life the total purchase price of vehicles for me is a little over $6,000.
I've seen some big SUV's around here that have tires and wheels that probably cost close to that! :o
