M/C Tires

Post by markiver54 » Fri Jun 03, 2022 6:05 pm

Has anyone who has a motorcycle bought tires recently? Just bought a front and a rear today,
What an unpleasant surprise!
Now gotta pay, whatever $$ to have them mounted.

I am not in the market for tires but I imagine they are pricey if the cycle parts I have purchased recently are any indication. Along with most everything else but when you have to buy it is like pulling off a bandage, you get it over with and tell yourself it will get better.

Exactly! And that is why I broke down and did it. Was going to sell my bike or give it to my son, however, either way, it needed to be safe. At this point though I think I'm gonna ride it some more myself. Definitely more affordable, given the gas prices these days. Cannot carry a lot on it, but even if it means more trips to the grocery store, it still has to be cheaper than the gas guzzler.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

The local Harley dealership does specials on tires about four times a year. Prices range from $450 to $650 depending on the tires.

Yeah Jim, that was my plan as well. Told my son he could have it when he got his driver's liscense woes straightened out. Wel, he got impatient and got a bike on his own. I started thinking about it and decided I would put new tires on it and ride it on occasion. Given the current gas situation I can save a little bit of money if I use it for some light errands, ( whatever will fit in my bags ). I've also been wanting to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway again anyway.

My tires are not as large as those of a Gold Wing, however, after I pay for mounting, I'm guessing I will have paid about the same. I'm having the front mounted today, so I know what that will cost but I don't have the rear yet, or know what that will cost to have mounted. The rear is coming from JP cycles and will hopefully be here Tuesday or Wednesday.
