Re: 2024 Blazer RS
the indicated MPG and actual MPG on our 2005 Trailblazer have always been very close .... not so for those numbers with our 2011 Silverado .... we keep a log in/on our vehicles in which we keep track of most everything spent on them .... we hand figure every filling and keep a record of where the filling took place .... it will be interesting to us to see how the Blazer's actual and indicated numbers stack up

Re: 2024 Blazer RS
The indicated average mpg on my 4Runner and my own calculations are pretty close. I've seen better by 1 or 2 mpg using my own calculations. Neither are good though. Both below 18 mpg.JEBar wrote: βMon Oct 02, 2023 5:17 pmthe indicated MPG and actual MPG on our 2005 Trailblazer have always been very close .... not so for those numbers with our 2011 Silverado .... we keep a log in/on our vehicles in which we keep track of most everything spent on them .... we hand figure every filling and keep a record of where the filling took place .... it will be interesting to us to see how the Blazer's actual and indicated numbers stack up

she has 300 and some miles since we last filled it and the indicated mileage is 23.9 ... outside of the 50 some miles today that has all been short distance, around town driving .... I hope she will do some better than that once she settles inmarkiver54 wrote: βMon Oct 02, 2023 5:29 pmThe indicated average mpg on my 4Runner and my own calculations are pretty close. Adaptive cruise control is a nice feature.
Check and see if you can adjust the following distance.
It took me a while to figure out how to increase the distance as I was following closer than I was comfortable with at first.
I guess I could have read the manual but what's the fun in that ...Ha
Now I have mine set at 3-4 car lengths and I'm much more relaxed using it.

Re: 2024 Blazer RS
we now have just under 700 miles on our Blazer .... used the Adaptive Cruise Control today for the first time .... in some ways its a bit spooky but info provided from folks here is making the adjustment much easier .... still too early to come up with an average MPG but do feel pretty confident that it will be 20+

Re: 2024 Blazer RS
just returned home from taking our Blazer in for a planned followup session with the fellow who ceramic coated it for us .... as noted this was planned from the beginning so as to give him a chance to make sure everything is as it should be .... he worked on her for just under 3 hours .... I didn't think it was possible for it to look any better than it did when we picked it up the first time but I was wrong .... the pictures below really don't come close to how she looks in person .... the paint appears to have a depth that the pictures can't capture ..... we have to take it back once more for the last scheduled treatment .... that will be the application of a specially tough wax type of coating that will help the high gloss black paint to stand up the sun's exposure and to the interior as well .... he had a back Corvette there that he's working on and its finish was incredible .... these return visits were all in the original plan and are included in the price .... I've found watching all of this to be fascinating

Re: 2024 Blazer RS
we are back home from spending 4 days down east with our Blazer parked on a lot literally on the beach .... the thought of it being exposed to salt impregnated moist air pushes my paranoia to where running it through a car wash is a necessity .... fortunately we have really good brushless car wash that does an excellent job of pressure washing the entire bottom, along with in the tire fender wells .... it has 5 levels of wash cycles that include various types of washes and paint coatings .... the next to cheapest cycle does all we need and she really looks good

Re: 2024 Blazer RS
I don't blame you Jim. I refuse to run my vehicle through an automatic car wash with spinning brushes, and I don't even have the ceramic coating. I usually do it myself with the pressure washer when the weather allows. if there is any salt/brine on the roads, then I drive my older 4Runner.JEBar wrote: βWed Oct 18, 2023 11:53 amwe are back home from spending 4 days down east with our Blazer parked on a lot literally on the beach .... the thought of it being exposed to salt impregnated moist air pushes my paranoia to where running it through a car wash is a necessity .... fortunately we have really good brushless car wash that does an excellent job of pressure washing the entire bottom, along with in the tire fender wells .... it has 5 levels of wash cycles that include various types of washes and paint coatings .... the next to cheapest cycle does all we need and she really looks good

the fellow who put the ceramic coat on ours recommended the brushless car wash .... he specifically recommended against using the brush type

Re: 2024 Blazer RS
our Blazer now has just over 2,700 miles showing on the odometer .... we (3 adults, 1 child plus considerably more luggage than needed) just got home from a 500+ mile Thanksgiving round trip from home to in central NC to Asheville, NC .... that drive took us from NC's rolling Piedmont to an altitude of 2,200 ft .... the vast majority of the drive was on i-40 where the maximum speed limit from 65 to 70 mph .... for all practical purposes we used the adaptive cruise control set at 5 mph over the limit .... on the trip from home to the mountains she got 25.1 mpg .... on the drive back down we got 26.4 mpg .... those numbers were hand figured .... the onboard mileage figures appear to run within a half of a mpg .... the Blazer has the same motor and transmission that was in our 2016 Camaro .... making the same drive several times with 2 adults and luggage we averagec 29 - 30 mpg .... I suspect that aerodynamics accounted for a good bit of the difference .... all-in-all, we are pleased with the Blazer's performance

Not bad on the mpg. I only get 16.5 hwy. in my 4Runner. Glad you had a safe trip.JEBar wrote: βFri Nov 24, 2023 5:01 pmour Blazer now has just over 2,700 miles showing on the odometer .... we (3 adults, 1 child plus considerably more luggage than needed) just got home from a 500+ mile Thanksgiving round trip from home to in central NC to Asheville, NC .... that drive took us from NC's rolling Piedmont to an altitude of 2,200 ft .... the vast majority of the drive was on i-40 where the maximum speed limit from 65 to 70 mph .... for all practical purposes we used the adaptive cruise control set at 5 mph over the limit .... on the trip from home to the mountains she got 25.1 mpg .... on the drive back down we got 26.4 mpg .... those numbers were hand figured .... the onboard mileage figures appear to run within a half of a mpg .... the Blazer has the same motor and transmission that was in our 2016 Camaro .... making the same drive several times with 2 adults and luggage we averagec 29 - 30 mpg .... Re: 2024 Blazer RS
First Warranty Claim ....
we just had to file the first warranty claim on Maureen's 2024 Blazer .... right now the Blazer has just over 3,000 miles showing on the odometer .... we've driven it something over 700 miles miles in the last week and have no clue how long it has been in the tire .... we do know that so far, there is no sign of any air leaking out of the tire .... knowing we'd taken out a separate tire/rim policy, when I noticed a screw in a tire, we dropped it off at the dealership from which it was purchased .... a couple of hours later we received a call where we learned they had checked with the warranty folks and were told not to repair the tire, rather they are to replace it ..?!?.. frankly, that caught me by surprise, no clue as to the reasoning behind the decision .... just did some checking and around here the tire sells for between $250 and $300 ....

Re: 2024 Blazer RS
Ya lucked out on that one. By the looks of the screw it appears it has probably been in there for a while. Not much of that Philips head left.

10-4 on getting a bit lucky .... I don't believe that the screw goes all the way through .... if that proves to be true and they plan to throw away the tire, I's probably try to talk them out of it

we just got home from picking up the Blazer after they replaced the tire ... Maureen drove it home and said she couldn't tell any difference in ride .... ins short, the appear to have done a good job of mounting and balancing

UPDATE :
as she sits out the the driveway right now, she has 15,673 showing the odometer .... yesterday we took a 650+ mile road trip from our home in central NC to Asheville in the Carolina mountains ending up back home .... almost all of the drive was on I-40 with something over 100 miles heavily traveled 2 lane roads .... for the entire trip she averaged 27.3 mpg .... while on I-40 the adaptive cruise control was set on 70 mph .... during one 227.8 mile stretch she averaged 30.9 mpg .... we are very pleased with its performance

Re: 2024 Blazer RS
in response to this PM'd question --- Jim, wondering how you are doing or lik ... nt of you.
as noted above, a couple of days ago we made a 650+ mile road trip in Maureen's Blazer .... during this trip I made it a point to use its adaptive cruse control as much as possible .... that included two lane roads with a 55 mph speed; as well as. Interstate highways with speed limits ranging from 55 to 70 mph .... it did take some getting used to but nowhere near as much as when I installed my first cruise control on a 1965 Jeep CJ5 .... as noted in the question above, it did an excellent job of maintaining the gap between us and the vehicle in front of us .... I noted several times that our speed had been reduced to maintain that gap to where we were traveling 20 or more MPH slower that where the cruse was set .... its a very smooth operation .... I'm glad adaptive cruise control will be built into our new pickup that is scheduled to be built next month
