In 2018, its main weapon in the fight is an all-new Silverado coming later on in the year. With a dizzying array of new features and engine options, it’s quite a weapon. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2019 Silverado’s full redesign ===> https://www.cheatsheet.com/automobiles/ ... sign.html/
Jim first thing I notice when I saw the pics of the new Chevys on another site was the engineers at Chevy finally figured out how to get round wheel wells on the new trucks. I never did care for the square wheel well on any of the GM trucks.

not having a car payment is most certainly a very good thing .... I kept my '78 Jeep J10 for 24 years (sold it when we purchased a Chevy 3500 dually), rebuilt Jeep's 360 V8 twice .... it was a good truck but can't hold a candle to those of today ....

well understood .... with my wife's family located in South Dakota around 1,600 miles from where we live .... in case of a family emergency, we've always felt the need to maintain at least one 4-wheel drive vehicle that is in a condition that we could crank and head out in a moments notice ..... in response to a family emergency back in '94, our '88 Blazer was in high range four wheel drive from just past Knoxville, TN all the way out to east central South Dakota and back .... over time we've made other such trips where snow covered roads required 4-wheel drive .... in addition, it must also have a comfortable ride and get reasonable mileage .... since 2011 that vehicle has been our Silverado which currently has under a hundred-thousand miles on it .... I'd still take off in it at a moment's notice but as the miles climb, we know we need to be making plans to replace it
My 2000 Silverado is a 250 4X4 and has 150K on it. I'd not hesitate to take off on a long trip with it. I've kept it in good shape. I need to have some service work done on it in the near future, mainly U-Joints, as when I put it in reverse I've started hearing the tell-tale "clunk". Other than oil, filters, belts, and plugs that's about all I've had to change.

earlier this morning we had some time to kill and decided to see if our local Chevy dealer had a 2019 with a 6.2 L gasoline engine in stock .... as it turned out, the one shown in the pictures below arrived yesterday .... they put a tag on it and we took it for a test drive .... as a side note, while we were out on the test drive, 3 more arrived .... first impressions were very favorable .... its 10 speed transmission is the smoothest I've ever driven .... the only way I could tell it was changing gears was to glance at the tach .... very quiet in the cab, I couldn't hear any tire or road noise .... the 6.2 was very responsive and I could definitely tell a difference from our current 5.3 L .... EPA 15 city / 20 country --- 17 average mpg .... in spite of being equipped with 20" tires, its ride was good .... it should be even better with 18" tires .... its proximity sensors all worked well .... as can be seen below, the backup camera has a overhead view .... the cab room seems to be larger than that of our current truck .... it also has 110 outlets in the cab and in the bed .... unless there is a major / unexpected change in circumstances, we won't be in the market for a new truck until March of 2021 so there is no hurry .... I'm looking forward following the introduction of this new market and its real world performance .... naturally, also looking forward to a few more test drives along the way

Still no Manual Transmission though, so that let's me out, lol.

Not that I would buy a new one anyway.

My 'ol Chevy Truck runs just fine. Never mind cost me money (like half a mortgage payment as mentioned) I have been offered more than I paid for it. It's about 44 years old and I've had it the last 18.

expensive for sure .... the first truck I bought was a '78 Jeep J10 that I custom ordered .... kept and used it for 24 years .... rebuilt the 360 V8 twice .... sold it in '02 .... at my age, its highly likely that the next one I get will be my last .... for that reason, I plan to go back to what I did in '78 and custom order .... all that said, much can change between now and March 2021 .... who knows :?:

Thanks AL.

When my nieces hubby gets too loud about his "chevy" street truck I offer to tow him around backwards in front of everybody. 8-)

Usually does the trick. :D
