understood .... actually all to well understood .... for over 20 years we towed our current camper with a Freightliner Sportchassis .... as a couple of examples, its Mercedes diesel engine held 9 gallons of engine oil .... it got 8 to 9 mpg burning diesel fuel .... for us its largest plus was its ride .... on yearly 3,000+ miles to both Texas and South Dakota its ride made the traveling a pleasure, not a torture .... for us, that more than justified the expenseBrokenolMarine wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2026 10:52 am"It will shock you how much difference the maintenance runs when you step over a certain line."
Remember to take a moment to reflect on the purpose of Memorial Day. Honor for our military personnel who died in service.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Re: Our Last New Truck
the odometer in our truck turned over 4,900 miles this morning .... our Blazer is in for its annual ceramic coating refresh .... as soon as we get it back we will put our truck in for its 5,000 mile service .... because we also plan to take it on a 4,000+mile trip from home to South Dakota and back, we plan to have them give the truck its pretrip look over ....

Re: Our Last New Truck
with 4,987 miles showing on its odometer, we took our truck to the dealership for service, tire rotation and pretrip inspection ..... I've been informed that she passed with flying colors .... they pleasantly surprised us by emailing a short video that included footage of it up on a lift clearly showing no leaks or any other visible issues .... that's a first .... this checks off a major item on our list of things we need to take care of prior to our upcoming trip to South Dakota and back

picked our truck up from the auto dealership this morning after getting word that it was ready .... bottom line, no issues were found and about all the remains is packing the things we will be taking along .... from what they said, she' pretty much ready to roll
Re: Our Last New Truck
I just read over your truck story. That's quite a story. Driving and traveling is so much part of our life.
Well, since about a year I am not driving as much as I used to, which is some relief considering the latest price hikes at the pump.
