One Fine Vehicle

Post by JEBar » Fri Jul 28, 2017 2:24 pm

its said that the more things change, the more they stay the same .... back in '01 our daughter bought her first vehicle, a really nice 2001 Tahoe which she kept until a few days go .... back in 2015 she bought her second vehicle, a Camaro .... while she really liked the Camaro, she realized that after 16 years of driving a Tahoe, she knew that it wasn't a vehicle she wanted to keep for a long time .... I must say that I thoroughly enjoy the times when she's in the market for a vehicle, we inevitably end up test driving a bunch of them .. :D .. this time the search lasted for 3 weekends .... the Camaro is history and whoever buys it will get an outstanding sports car .... in its place she now has a really nice 2017 Suburban .... this rig has bells and whistles that I didn't even know existed .... while it looks long, as can be seen below, it is the same length as our Silverado .... it really handles well, has a very smooth ride that is as quiet as any vehicle I've ever been in .... it has a towing package that includes a brake control .... its EPA'd on par with her Tahoe .... it really suits her and I wouldn't be surprised if it stays around for even longer

My daughter drives the Yukon XL. With three Boy Scouts it is a just A necessity. Heck of a fine truck. Your daughter will be happy with this truck and safe.

it is definitely built for a family .... it has 2 video monitors that drop down from the ceiling and headphones that carry the sound .... with 3 rows of seats and still with a large trunk area, it can haul a load .... switches in the rear along with on the second and third row seats, they can be lowered/raised at the push of a button

That's a beautiful SUV. Bells and whistles never did much for me, until I got them. I think that is a very fine looking ride. I hope she gets many years of good use out of it.

Thanks for sharing it.

as noted, during her search process we rode in several types of vehicles .... personally, I prefer a pickup .... if things go as planned, in 2021 I will be ready to replace my 2011 Silverado ... that means I'd be 75 years old so who knows .... I'd sure like for that truck to have several of the features found in our daughter's Suburban

our daughter's camper has a new vehicle to follow down the road .. 8-) .. while her Suburban could still tow it, the fact is it worked the hound out of it .... its 5.3 could handle the weight on local roads, she didn't feel good about taking long trips or towing over hilly areas .... its suspension was built for a comfortable ride, not for handling heavy trailers .... the only reason she could do so safely was her Propride Hitch ..... that truly remarkable hitch made towing possible .... she'd reached the point that she wanted to be able to do more than camp a close to home .... she, understandably, wants to be able to go to the beach or mountains .... bottom line, her Suburban is gone and it has been replaced by a Chevy Silverado 2500 Z71 Trail Boss .... I've never owned a pickup as nice as it is .... I've posted a few pictures that don't do it justice .... its color, Cypress Gray, is new this year .... in the bright sun it looks green .... out of the direct sun it looks dark grey .... it is powered by a 6.6L gasoline powered V8 ....yesterday she drove it from here at home to Great Wolf Lodge which just over 170 miles over a mix of mostly 2 lane rural roads and a short distance on I-85 .... she got 16.9 MPG .... its a hoss

We had a 01 Tahoe LT that I put 196k on while owning my detailing buisness. It did very well for us.

I like the gray truck with the black wheels, very nice.
We discovered we were truck people years ago.
I thought I wanted the sports car I had dreamed of all those years... Bought one in 2012, kept it less than a year.
Went back to the trucks.

We have a 2010 Titan and a 2015 Frontier, both are in great shape. We do the PM as scheduled and have no plans to replace them. They both have shells on the back... and still look good.

the all three pictures are of the same truck .... the green picture was taken under direct sunlight .... the gray picture was taken under very overcast conditions ....

the black wheels are part of the Z or the Trail Boss options packages .... not sure which

I understood the post, but didn't make myself clear. ;) I'm usually better than that. I like the gray/black combo better. But, I think the green appearance is nice to. The color shift is a nice trick. Our Titan is Black, but the color is called Galaxy Black. In Neutral Light it looks like a deep rich black. In Bright Sun it's a deep black, and has a rainbow metalflake and looks like it's filled with "Stars."

that sounds like an interesting paint job, bet its an attention get'er .... the dealership had plenty of both but our daughter flat out didn't want a black or another vehicle .... the Cypress Gray one was the only truck like she wanted that they had so she took it

MINOR UPDATE :

our daughter's new 2500 now has just over 500 miles on it .... no towing .... some interstate but mostly 2 lane highways .... for that period of time, it has averaged 16.7 MPG

window sticker price was just over $67,000 .... the ones just like it with a Duramax diesel are about $10,000 higher .... just for comparison, our youngest son purchased a decked out Chevy Silverado 1500 at the same dealership 3 days earlier with a window sticker that was less than $1,000 lower than the one on our daughter's 2500
