Oct 2020 Trip to Texas
I leave for Texas on October 3rd for a quick dash down and back. I’ll only be gone seven days.
I usually put together half-size notebooks with all the information I might need. This trip I will use a previous book. I’ve driven this route so many times I don’t need a map so this multi-state map is there so I can track my progress. You can see some days I didn’t have to drive very far in this 29 day trip in 2019. This page I can use on any trip down and is the most often viewed page. These are my usual stops. The back cover stores gas and other receipts.

tip of my cap for being extremely well organized .... I do like your daily drive schedule .... we have found about 300+/- miles over 5 - 6 hrs works well or us .... really looking forward to your comments about the UFO Museum in Roswell

Re: Oct 2020 Trip to Texas
I’ve been there three times and love it. It’s one of my favorite tourist traps. This trip requires 16 hours of drinking then 10 hours rest and 16 more hours of driving. No stops except for pee breaks and gas. I will take enough food and drinks so I never have to go inside for anything. I have no problem stopping at a remote exit to pee alongside the road.

Sad the Roy Rogers Museum closed a couple years ago. Same with the Buddy Holly Museum in Lubbock.

On the road! 484.4 miles on a tank of gas.
Filled it up and another 540 miles till empty.
After driving most of the night I take a nap and wake up at sunrise.

620 miles on a tank at 60 mph! I’m not moving when the picture was taken but set the cruise at 60 stopped. That was an hour or so ago.
Currently halfway to TX.
Utah, I-70, milepost 181 rest area. Half a wile from the Moab exit.

No. I’m lucky to get 20 mpg towing it. I’m sleeping in the back of the Outback and will do the trip down in 48 hours. Last time I took three weeks.
Traffic is backed up from Arches National Park to Moab so I’m going to take a nap in the parking lot.

Re: Oct 2020 Trip to Texas
I leave for my return trip in a few minutes. I’m taking three days for the return. Coming down in two days was too much driving and not enough sleeping.

Re: Oct 2020 Trip to Texas
here's wishing you an uneventful return drive .... well understood on to much driving and not enough sleeping .... for decades I'd drive straight through from our home in NC to my wife's folks home in South Dakota and do the same for the return drive a few days later .... 30 hrs driving the 1,500 miles .... now days we spend 5 days covering the same drive

Re: Oct 2020 Trip to Texas
After 16 hours of drinking I would need much more than 10 hours of rest. And maybe ten hours of pee breaks.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday.

Re: Oct 2020 Trip to Texas
I’ve been on the road for 24 hours and have driven 1,232 miles which puts me 50 miles from Salt Lake City.
Two more hours will put me on the other side of SLC and then it’s eight hours of sleep.
The bed in the Outback is really comfortable and I can fully stretch out.
