Re: 2020 Trip To South Dakota
after one heck of a day, we are back home .... today's drive of 273.7 miles that took 4 hrs 42 min was over familiar territory that we have traveled many, many times .... our morning began with driving from our campground to the Farmer's Market in Asheville where we picked up 2 bushels of white half runner green beans .... they are old time string and snap beans that my father raised and, for me, they are the only green bean I really enjoy .... after getting home, unhooking and leveling our camper, we delivered well over a thousand dollars worth of steaks that we hauled all the way from South Dakota .... tomorrow hundreds of dollars more will be delivered .... we then drove to a neighboring town where we picked up a very excited grandson .... in the last couple of hours I've stringed and snapped about a half bushel of beans which will go into the canner shortly after breakfast .... sometime tomorrow we hope to start unloading the camper ....

Great to hear you are both home and safe Jim!!. we talked to a local grower here and he said, hope you bought the beans from the sheds and NOT the retail buildings. Huge difference in cost at the farmers market!
Sorry we were unable to meet up...a lot going on with us both, but will keep in touch of course!
home sweet home......enjoy!

don't know the difference between the sheds and retail buildings .... we usually deal with the big outfit in the first building on the right as you are driving into the market

As you enter, go straight past the main building. You will then see 4 or 5 open air, under roof sheds. These are the growers. Most think they are wholesale only, however, they will sell to anybody cheaper than in the retail building.JEBar wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 12:10 ammarkiver54 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 10:44 pmwe talked to a local grower here and he said, hope you bought the beans from the sheds and NOT the retail buildings. Don't know what you paid, but the grower here on Burnsville sells them for $35.00 for a half bushel or $1.89 Lb.
