Post by JEBar » Mon Nov 21, 2022 9:56 am

just wondering how many folks will be traveling over Thanksgiving and if so, will you be flying or driving ????

we plan to leave home fairly early Wednesday morning and drive to a sister's home in Asheville where we my side of the family will gather for the holiday .... on Friday we will meet with cousins from a different branch of the family and have breakfast Saturday morning at the Moose Cafe in Asheville with yet another branch of cousins .... after that breakfast we plan to drive back home

We'll be staying home. There's no family left to go see on either side. My parents and brother have all passed. Robyn's parents have passed. Her sister lives with us as well as our youngest son. My oldest son and his wife, Sarah, live in Omaha where all her family lives so he'll be having Thanksgiving up there.

Staying home and it’s going to be a pretty dull Thanksgiving. Son and DIL are going to friends for dinner but stopping by later. Stepson and family from California are not coming up this year so that leaves Mrs. Hatchdog, her cousin and cousin’s hubby and me. Good thing we bought a 20 lb turkey.

Did somebody say “leftovers”?

Staying put this year. Hunting in the morning and then going two doors down to the step son's home. They are hosting his side and hers. She's a great cook. If I can, I will make whatever overflow she needs as I'm not bad in the kitchen either. All in all, it should be nice.

I hope everyone has a nice day.

Gene, I've never heard of a dinner at the library. Sounds interesting.

Food for thought.
Staying home this year. Sister, and her clan are splitting up diner at two places. Cooking the 17 lb turkey I got from work and the basic additional bits. I can decimate a good portion over a couple days and then freeze the rest.

Staying home and two of our three children are coming. My daughter with her 3 children and our youngest son and his two boys. This family gathering was specifically requested by our granddaughter. She want a family gathering like she remembered from when she was small. She is our only granddaughter so special requests are always granted. :D

17 lb turkey going on the smoker bright and early Thanksgiving morning.

Going to my daughter's house. Just a little bit away. Usually go to a friends house who open up their house on our first T-Day here when we moved down from Illinois. Friends of my daughter. They and JEBar made our transition less painful. However, this year they just want the four of them as the two girls are coming home from college for the first time this year. Both are freshman. Very traumatic for the parents having the two girls out of the house for the first time in 19 yrs.

Probably have to have Thanksgiving in Mrs. B's hospital room. In 3 out of my 4 kid's family's a member has tested Positive for Covid, so no company there. the other son lives in Denmark> Looks like hospital food and football on TV. Any way we wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving!
