Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
good wishes appreciated .... during our last 3 weeks at Conroe we put 210.6 nontowing miles on our truck .... I-10 in Louisiana has had a reputation for being extremely rough for as long as I can remember .... while they have fixed some of it, other sections continue to be a disgrace .... bottom line, I'm happy to be able to say we are setup at Baton Rouge KOA after a 317.6 mile drive that took us 5 hr 24 minutes .... once we got here, it took much longer than normal to put everything that had bounced out of cabinets back into place ..... it looks like the latest series of storms is moving north of us and we won't cross paths with it until sometime Wednesday .... hopefully by then something will change and we will miss it all together .... our truck's fuel consumption since filling it a month ago has been way off .... based on past experience I believe the fuel we purchased must have been B20 .... we didn't plan to take on any more fuel until tomorrow but from looking at the gauge that was going to cut it to close .... so, my wife checked her TSD fuel discount app and found a Petro where we took on 30 gallons .... we still plan to fill the truck during tomorrow's drive ....
Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
Sounds like the roads down Denver way. It seems we cant find any road engineers and bridge engineers that agree on bridge and road height. Our local city just raised sales tax to build and improve roads. Seems they have trouble find people that know how to build roads because even the new roads are rough. There is spots in Denver I will slow down to around 25 to 30 mph because Im not going to subject my suspension on the fifth wheel or my truck to that abuse. Maybe if they get enough people impeding traffic they will fix the roads.

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
today's drive ended up taking us 5 hr 53 min to cover 332.4 miles .... thankfully, the interstates we traveled today were in a much better condition than those of yesterday .... everything pretty much stayed in place inside the camper for the entire trip ..
.. 2 stops, one for fuel, on simply to take a short break .... we are now setup near Greenville, AL at Sherling Lakes .... its location is handy for us both going to and returning from Texas .... over the years we have found it to be a good place to spend the night .... at $30 a night for a 50 Amp / full hookup site its reasonably priced .... by comparison, last night's 50 Amp / full hookup sit at the Baton Rouge KOA cost $58 .... its a good thing we settled in for the evening, per AccuWeather "Rain, heavy at times will continue for the next 49 minutes."

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
last task for the evening is to set our clocks (the trucks included) ahead 1 hour to get them back on Eastern time .... history tells us that coming so close as jumping ahead an hour for daylight saving's time will take some getting used to ....

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
it rained sometime last night but no more called for before noon .... today's drive takes us around Atlanta, that's never a pleasant .... we hope the forecast is correct and we will skirt the major storm front that will be moving parallel to our route .... this is scheduled to be the longest day's drive for our return trip home

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
our longest day's drive for this trip covering 386.1 miles in 6 hrs 33 min is history and we are setup in Aiken RV Park .... our drive from Sherling Lake almost to Atlanta went smoothly .... just short of Atlanta we ran into rain that quickly escalated into an out and out deluge that restricted our vision in all directions .... one would think that such conditions would slow the speed of the traffic but NOOOOO .... all that needs to be added is we made it .... after turning east onto I-20 we out ran the storm and were able to reach Aiken RV Park, then get setup before the rain hit .... it is supposed to hang on for another hour or so and once it moves out, the forecast says we should have clear weather all the way home .... that'll be nice
