its a long term lease site .... haven't seen anyone around since we got here .... with the next two weeks being "Spring Break" for different school systems in this area, we wouldn't be surprised to see folks .... they have a very nice Margaritaville setup :D

whenever we travel from home, there seems to always be something or somethings that we fail to pack and leave behind .... for this trip its my carved walking cane .... with my balance being what it is, I like to take it along when taking walks through campgrounds and/or on unpaved surfaces .... while visiting one of Maureen's relatives I came across long walking staff that she had no use for .... I shortened it to 34" and mounted a 2" diameter cue ball gear shift knob on top .... to do so I cut a stainless bolt that fit the knob and drilled a hole in the end of the staff .... after a bit of research to secure the bolt in the end of the staff I ordered a tube of Loctite Ultra Gel Control Super Glue.... it should be here Sunday .... from handling the part I cut off, it should make a good tire thumper so its under the driver's seat of our truck

back in late 2019 we bought a Collapsible Utility Cart ===> http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.p ... in#p115358 .... my main reason for purchasing it was to use in hauling rifles and related gear from a parking lot to the shooting areas on ranges we visit .... I've only used it once and it worked really well .... shortly after that Covid hit and I haven't been to a range since ..... its packed in the camper's basement and I am going to get it out today .... do hope I can remember how to set it up .. :? .. my plan is to use it to haul our trash bags to the dumpster .... yep, basically looking for something to do .. ;)

with rain slated to move in and out all day, no outside plans ... do have a few inside chores but they shouldn't take more than a few minutes each .... the glue needed to finish the assembly of my new walking cane should be here later today .... giving the glue a long time to fully cure, the cane and I should be able to go for our first walk tomorrow .. ;)

with the large number of people in the metro Houston metro area, the schools divide their spring breaks over a two week period .... today begins the first week .... based on past experience there will be very few, if any, open sites in our current campground .... with all of the various factors influencing things right now, it will be see just how close to getting back to normal we will see .... the most boats we've seen since getting here in mid January were launched from the campground marina area .... they've already held a few weekend bass fishing tournaments on Lake Conroe and from what we've heard, some nice size fish were caught ..... per a Dallas news paper : "Scott Stephens of Conroe landed his 14.25-pound Legacy lunker on the first morning of the Lake Conroe Big Bass Tour event, Feb. 26. The bass won Stephens a $48,000"

after a bit of research to secure the bolt in the end of the staff I ordered a tube of Loctite Ultra Gel Control Super Glue.... it should be here Sunday ....
as promised, the Loctite Gel Super Glue arrived today .... to pick it up I had drive over to the closest Amazon Hub Locker in the rain .... using the old making a shim out of a toothpick trick to tighten the threads of the stainless bolt against the sides of the hole drilled into the end of the cane, it only took a few seconds .... the cane has been set aside and allowed to cure overnight .... by the way, if you ever purchase this Loctite Gel, be sure to read the instructions on how to open the bottle .... trust me, doing so will save you some time .. :?

a long awaited big day for this trip has dawned .... we are meeting a friend who is an excellent gunsmith for lunch .... I'm taking him our Remington 700 BDL that's chambered for 300 WBY Magnum ....

that was back on Feb 3rd .... he's finished with it and I'm due to meet him at at shooting range on Tuesday .... the second picture below shows the inside of the stock where he has glass bedded .... he's also installing a high quality aftermarket trigger .... really looking forward to seeing it in action and bringing it back to the camper

its hard to believe that only 2 weeks from today we are scheduled to pull out and head for home .... not much on tap for today .... we will probably make make a grocery run and do have a small package due to be delivered to the nearest Amazon Hub Locker .... sometime this afternoon after the grounds dry out and before it gets too hot, we hope to go for walk through the campground .... its really going to be interesting to see how Covid affects spring break attendance in this campground

10-4 .... even though I don't have to use one, I feel better having a cane when walking over rocky or rough surfaces

Leaving for home next Tuesday. Right now there is about 18 inches of snow at the house. I dont need any or want any snow driving practice. In 40 years of driving trucks I have had more than I need. Like I have said before snow sucks.
