No power down here either. I have no generator so here in a while I will be starting the truck which has 2 new batteries in it. The batteries in the trailer are new also but there is a good draw on them right now with the furnace and other accessories running. No snow here but plenty of Alberta wind.
glad you don't have the snow .... I'd hate to have to move our truck right now .... my bet is it wouldn't get off of our site and onto the road before getting stuck .....

I haven’t left the property in three days because of snow.

as noted above, its sure pretty out there ..... we have some things working and a few not .... we left the water running through the CG connection over night ..... after digging out the hose and connecting it to another that is connected to the camper, I anticipated water would flow into the camper .... no such luck .... it took longer than it should have (windchill in negative numbers probably contributed to it) to find that the inside of the fitting connecting the water hose to the camper was a solid block of ice .... cleared it out and we now have water .... pump still doesn't work .... our camper's propane generator will pull gas out so fast that it can freeze the tank .... doing so this morning only took a couple of hours .... rigged up Maureen's hair dryer on high in the propane compartment, will see if that helps .... power still out and we can't get through to the campground office to see if they have any word own when it will be restored

Jim,
Sorry Ya'll are having such a rough go of it. I hope the temps rise soon and you can stay warm until they do.
I'm sure it will be soggy for a while though. :(

No power still here. Got the old Dodge going with out any trouble. Moved it around and got it plugged into the camper. Ran it for about 3 hours and have it shut off now. No word on power coming back on. Stay tuned for more cartoons

I heard on the news that parts of Texas were conducting rolling blackouts.

some local folks have come through offering folks a cot and food at a local church .... the folks who work at this campground have no clue when the power will be back on .... my hope is your propane tanks will run our generator through the night .... if so, we are good to go .... a neighbor who is headed for the church let us have a full 30 lb tank of theirs .... our current plan is to continue running the generator at minimal load to keep heat in the camper ..... if/when the tanks run out I'll connect the neighbor's 30 lb tank ... our truck is backed up to our camper .... it has 50 gallons of fuel in it .... as Al mentioned, we'll let the truck idle and run the camper's furnace off of the 30 lb tank ... just running the heater, a 30 lb tank will last a long time .... if/when they get the power back on, we should be fine

Jim, do you know if your outages are because of rolling blackouts, or natural causes?

not sure but I doubt it ..... its my understanding that the blackouts are short term at any location .... our power has been out for just short of 12 hours .... as I said, the folks who run this campground are clueless

Our has been out since 5am. Still out. The truck has been running for 3 hours again now. Trying to get the batteries peaked up enough to shut it off for a while.

Image 10:15 PM most happy to be able to say our power just came back on .... at 12 degrees with a steady wind it was down right cold when I went out to reset the Vornado in he basement and shut down the truck .... with the power back on they can fill our empty 40 lb tanks here in the campground so we won't have to venture out any time soon

Good deal Jim. Its 320 am here been out in the truck since midnight with it running. Keeping everything going. Hopefully we will get power later today none yet. I know one thing a small generator will be on order soon. I may not use it all that much. But it beats letting the truck run all night

Just heard on the news that one of the contributing problems with the Texas power outages is that despite being the gas and oil capitol of the US Texas uses quite a bit of wind power. Apparently the windmills have frozen and are unable to produce any power. Good luck to you guys down there and fingers crossed for your power to either come back on or to stay on once it does.

over time I've done a good bit of research into portable generators .... while working in the industry, I learned that way too many folks impulse buy and are just lucky if they get on that will do what they want .... way too much to type .... if you'd like to chat about it, give me a call ....
