contrast the pictures below with those a few post above in this thread with the ones below .... the damaged tree is gone .... quiet a change .... for us, having it gone is a major plus, one that will drastically improve our satellite TV signal reception

UPDATE :

while some news from Western NC are promising but the scope of the damage is still horrific .... there is some talk that some traffic flow might be restored over I-40 by the end of this year .... water has been restored to most of Asheville but it still can't be used for human consumption .... IF the roads are open to traffic the size of our rig before we are due to head for SD we will probably change our route from the one shown in post 1 in this thread .... at this point all we can do is watch and wait

as much as we enjoy spending our summers in Estelline, there is no way we would want to be out there right now .... as this is being typed the temp out there is 8 degrees with a slight wind that breeze that brings the "Real Feel" down to 2 degrees .... they are calling for a high today of 18 with it falling back to 1 tonight .... looking ahead, the forecast says the temp will get above freezing on one of the next seven days .... that being for the temp to reach a balmy 38 degrees on December 14th .. ;)

I-40 won't reopen by Jan. 1, 2025 and that comes as no surprise .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEmIcNDZV4M .... while it may open in 2025, there is no way that can be counted on .... we are holding the option open to return home via I-40 in August

just finished an appointment with our mobile RV repair tech .... last weekend we spent four days with our club for the first campout of 2025 .... as is our norm, we use these campouts to test both our Sportchassis tow vehicle and our fifth wheel camper .... in doing so we make it a point to run all of their systems .... happily, our truck appears to be good to go .... unfortunately, the same didn't prove to be the case with our camper .... several issues have been identified, for one of which the repair will most certainly be expensive .... today our repair tech and I went over all of the issues and he will now purchase the parts needed to make repairs .... we should be able to get the parts and make the repairs before our club's April campout .... that said, we will continue to testing at both our April and May outings
