Superb knives, RR. I particularly like the shape of both of the fixed blades.

The new one with the straight handle is a little different to hold, the old one actually feels better in the hand. But either one will get the job done.

The new bowie knife along side my old bowie knife. Old on the left, new on the right. Different blade profiles. 10" blades, old fashioned frontier style fighting knives, and razor sharp.

My Schrade knives are all American made. Two in the picture are "Old Timer" knives and the other is a "Uncle Henry." A 3-blade stockman style knife has always been my preference for pocket carry and I have carried a pocket knife daily since I was in the 1st grade (they don't allow that in my area public schools now).

My late husband and my MT husband carried pocket knives in their schools too. Back east in the Great Lakes region and out here.

They allowed that on the East Coast where I grew up too. That got outlawed.

They don't allow pocket knives now out here in Montana schools from what my husband told me. I forgot when the ban came up but it was many, many years ago. We are in our 60's. One of HIS public school teachers used to BORROW my Montana husband's knife if he needed it in the classroom. NO kidding!

Right now, the special snowflakes would be horrified to see a KID using a knife even outside of school and that is a shame.

Children should LEARN how to use tools such as these and accept personal responsibility in using them.

Old thread resurrection again, but I remember when I could carry a knife in school also. It was outlawed in about 1987 where I went to HS. All thanks to a crazy girl irritated at others and making threats against them..

Heck, I am not even supposed to carry at work now(technically). And I am out in the country by myself most times......

All my Schrades are made in America. In fact,I don't own a knife made in China.

If I am correct, Schrade were made in NY State up until recently. Now I believe all are made in China. If anyone knows for sure, please chime in.

It is true, and I don't know the exact date but I've read all about it on the knife forum. As far as I can remember, all the USA made Schrades will say USA on the blade. For instance, my LB8 says "Schrade +" on one line and under it "U.S.A. LB8". From what I've read, the + means 1095 High Carbon Steel.

That Golden Spike was always one of my favorite knives as a kid but could never afford one!
