Amazon Shipping

Post by JEBar » Wed Apr 01, 2020 9:46 am

over time I find myself ordering more and more items from Amazon .... their logistics system guaranteeing quick delivery on a specific date have proven to be very accurate .... for the last few weeks I've notices that the promised delivery dates given when the order is placed are now weeks away .... Amazon has released a statement at this link ===> https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer ... oppingCart :

"As COVID-19 has spread, we have seen an increase in people shopping online. To serve our customers while also helping to ensure the safety of our associates, we have changed our logistics, transportation, supply chain, purchasing, and third-party seller processes to prioritize stocking and delivering items that are a higher priority for our customers. This has resulted in some of our delivery promises being longer than usual. We're also hiring over 100,000 positions across the U.S. to enable us to provide this vital service to people everywhere, especially to those, like the elderly, who are most vulnerable."

just as a heads-up .... in actual practice, I've found that items we've ordered actually arrive much earlier than quoted when the order was placed ....

We also order from Amazon quite a bit. We have noticed a little slow down here, but nothing that bad. So far so good.

I ordered four puzzles a couple days ago and hope to get them soon. I bought reasonable priced ones. Some are going for up to $100 each.

I’m glad I had a few on hand as my usual source is second hand stores.

I ordered a new mower deck (54") belt yesterday from Amazon since I couldn't find one in stock anywhere local (within 50 miles). It broke after about 50feet, so I'm stuck until I can get a replacement. It hasn't shipped yet, but I'll give them a couple days. Supposed to be here by the 9th. We'll see. The weeds and grass is coming up fast right now, and I've got 2 acres of it. I really don't want to hire the job out, but I might be forced to.

.
Saw the Amazon notice yesterday, too. So I decided to wait on non-essential things from them. I also experienced the last several orders showing up a day earlier than promised.

Puzzles we have a lot of. Every holiday season my wife orders puzzles for us to supposedly work on during Thanks Giving, Christmas and New Years. Seems we never get around to working on them all.

I received one package today. They said it might take up to two weeks but it only took two days.

It’s still sitting on the porch untouched. I’ll bring it in in the morning.
