No rimfire limits at Cabelas

Rimfire ammo of all flavors is available at Cabelas today without any limitations on quantity.

Three years ago, my first new firearm was a Henry H001. I had just gotten my pistol permit in CT and looked forward to my new and exciting shooting hobby. It was a huge shock for me to learn that there wasn't any ammo on the shelf the day I bought it. I had a new gun, but there was no ammo.

As a result, because of its scarcity, I began to buy as much .22 ammo as was allowed whenever I found it, which wasn't often and usually had a maximum allowed purchase of three boxes. I became a careful hunter of .22 ammo. I now have more of it than I'll be able to shoot in a very long time.

I'm glad the drought is over; at least for now. ;)

It appears that you are correct, from what I have seen in my area there is no shortage for now.

no limits showing at BASS .... prior to the "shortage" we stocked up with 555 round Winchester® Bulk Pack Rimfire Ammo .... we still have several boxes but will probably start rebuilding our inventory

It sure is good to see more 22 LR on the shelves again. While I never came even close to running out, I did have to work on it to keep my inventory up. I never in a million years thought it would take 4 years for things to get back to within spitting distance of "normal."

That is great news. In my area (North Dallas) 22LR ammo has been plentiful. Recently there is always a selection (50 round and 100 round boxes) but not always bulk packs on the shelf.

The drought caused the enrollment in Appleseed classes that I help teach to dry up to the point where we lost the gunrange that we taught at due to low enrollment. The range owner let the Appleseed crew take over the 25 yard range for an entire weekend for only $60 per shooter. When there were more instructors than students for a few months in a row he asked that we no longer schedule classes there. The opportunity cost for him became too great as he could have group classes that brought in over $250 per hour on that shooting bay.

Hopefully we can get enrolllments back up and approach the range owner again.

22LR at normal prices can be had at the gun shops here in the Shenandoah Valley, but it is still scarce at the local Walmart. I think the 22LR drought will be officially over when you see it routinely at the Walmarts....

I have a significant shortage in my area. We don't even have a Cabelas.

But I have other outlets for 22LR, (my required cal).

I was hoarding .22LR ammo about four years before it became harder to find and continued to do so during the so called shortage. If I never buy another round and live another 50 years I will not run out of ammo.

I'd be right there with SH if it hadn't been for that tragic kayak accident I had last summer. All that ammo on the bottom of the lake...

But I digress... I was at my local Scheel's today, and they had a truckload of CCI Mini-mags. It was actually kind of impressive. They had a ton of 100 round boxes of it. They also had a boatload of the 300 round packs, both the Troy Landry "Choot 'Em" packs and the Tactical packs.

I bought, er, some...

Hard to beat Wally World at $7.47 per 100 on mini mags... when they got em !! They do have a limit though.

$7.99 a box at Scheel's. Cabela's is a dollar more.

I bought 4 100 round packs of RN min mags at Gander this week for $6.99 a box. I don't think they have a limit. The sale price there has been $7.99 a box. I have enough on hand I don't need to stock up. Clovispup goes through enough that will pick up 2 - 4 100 round boxes any time I see them on a good sale. I prefer CCI rimfire ammo, and am willing to pay a bit of a premium to get it. In all the thousands upon thousands of CCI I have shot over the years, I can recall only one actual dud. With other brands, I'm lucky to get just one problem child per box.
