My tinnitus started back in the 70's when I stupidly fired some +P loads in my snub-nose 38 Special without ear plugs or muffs. It's not terrible but I do sleep with the tv or radio on, it's pretty annoying when it's dead silent.

Ive had tinnitus for a while. I think mine is from loud pipes on motorcycles and big trucks. I have one hearing aid but its old. My wife keeps yelling at me when I say huh. Sometimes I say huh just to see what kind of mood shes in.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I went to an indoor gun range to shoot my .22 cal revolver. I was dumb enough to forget my hearing protection. Anyway I now have to wear hearing aids in both of my ears. I get tinnitus once in a while, but it isn't to bad. Even with the hearing aids I still have a hard time hearing some stuff.

This is a great thread especially since I am in need of hearing aids. My wife has been beating me up to go get checked and reading this has convinced me to go. I'm a Costco member and on Jan 1 there is an upcoming change to my health care coverage that will cover some of the cost. So now I have no excuse not to go.

After the test they will suggest a model and will let you try some in the store if available. I was amazed the first time. Being able to hear other peoples conversations made me feel like I was doing something I shouldn't. When mine came in and I was driving home I found it very distracting to hear all that extra sound. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.
