Stuck but good

So it rained for over a week here. When it dried out, I had to work and then mow the lawn around the house. I do that with the John Deere x758. It is four wheel drive, all the time. It has a 24 HP diesel engine and a high capacity mowing deck. It does a great job on the lawn and there are no unknown hazards around the house lawn. It's about 2 acres. It would get bogged down a few times mowing the grass around the house as it was thick and tall from all the rain.
I mow the pasture with the White GT1855. It has new rear tires and always had good traction on the hills in the pasture. All it has to normally do is cross the small creek. Water had been coming down the trail by the dog park, into the creek for over a week. It was still running down the trail. As I crossed the creek, I sank into 3 to four inches of slick, silt like mud. I put down some boards. It ran on them, but the angle of the hills were too much in places. I put on the tire chains I got with it. Still no go. I slid back into a big hole created by the workmen adding to the dog park last month. I was stuck.
I had to get the ATV, find as dry a place as possible and use it's winch to pull out the machine. The winch was almost out of cable, but the ATV was on solid ground. The mower came out and I'm leaving it in the pasture until that section dries out.
I was really stuck.
