Sling on New X models.

Post by Jerrysea » Sun May 31, 2020 1:27 pm

I have been thinking of putting a sling on my h012mx. Since the swivels go on the actual furniture of the gun I am concerned that the swivel attachment will actually work it way through the plastic holes.
I know there is not a lot of these guns around and if anyone does have a swivel they have not seen a lot of carry time.
So I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this.

I gonna go out on limb here and say with what I have heard about Henry customer service that if you wear out the swivel attachments from use on your X model they would probably fix it.

I bought the swivels from Henry. Then I ordered a sling from amazon.
For anyone who buys a sling without swivels and buys the swivels from Henry be aware they are one inch. You sling will need to be able to fit that where it is installed through the swivel bought from Henry.
Seems the swivel holes(attach location)are robust and the swivel moves freely. The material on the sling prevents the swivels from hitting the stock or forearm on the gun.

Want to mention here that while attaching the sling I notice that the thread protector screw on the front of barrel was loose. Just hand tightened, will see what happens with it on next range visit.
Not sure when. Planning on doing pistol next visit. Then take some new shooters, then rifle.
I will update if it comes loose.

Yeah you'll need to tighten the thread protector every now and then. I check mine after every magazine. If your not going to use a muzzle device of some sort you can put a small drop of blue or even purple thread sealant, no red!, on there and a good strong twist and it should stay put.

I was considering using lock tight. I was thinking that the barrel getting hot would make it so that the lock tight would just break down.
