So who else has the buttstock on their Henry slide around during shouldering-and what was used to alleviate said problem-inquiring minds would like to know.

If you are referring to the brass buttplate sliding, the stock cover I have is rough-out leather on the end. No slide. Can't see the end in the pic but it form fits the butt plate. I don't use this cover much but it certainly holds tight to the shoulder. Made by Ricochet Roy. Hope this helps.

To me, if ya want that pretty and shiny slick brass, then that might be a factor. Unless you do what RR and some others have done, you might just have to adjust to it. The BBB rifles are very pretty, however, I can see that as something I might have to get used to.I own a BBS partly for that reason. I don't want as much of a show piece as much as I want a secure comfortable shooter. If some day, I can afford to add brass to my collection, I would be proud to.

I prefer my rifle without it, both for looks, historical accuracy and I actually like the way the crescent stock fits snug in my shoulder. It's a very low recoil rifle anyway at 45 Colt.

Beautiful! Rifle RR. Have seen and admired it. I know especially YOU know THAT rifle and shoot it at expert level. Just saying as more of a novice, and never having owned brass, I can imagine his issue.

Aside from leather covering that pretty butt stock, maybe just a tighter register on the gun...

You definitely have to be comfortable. There's no doubt the stock cover helps make it sit tight with no slip. Gunstockcover.com has real nice ones too. I had one of his on my old Big Boy.

WOW! Thanks RR, beautiful covers. I just know unfortunately...i cannot afford them. Makes me salivate though..

He does nice work. And they really fit well.

Once again...WOW, he does beautiful work. Would jump right on one of those if I could. Did not see any prices though. Probably a good thing at this point. Craftsmanship of that caliber justifies price!

All really good ideas and some fine looking leatherwork-I would like the Henry buttstock cover also but there is a money problem-problem is I don't have enough.

I have the same problem with my 357. Brass butt plate slides around. Any else know of a less expensive solution? Will a Lyman pachmer butt plate cover fit?

Put non-slip tape on your shoulder like a shooting patch.
You could add a slip on recoil pad but you would end up with a 15 inch pull.

Might try skateboard tape on the very back of the plate. It's tape with a gritty surface on the outer side designed to keep feet from slipping on skateboards. Can usually find it at Wax-Mart or hardware stores. Won't change LOP, plus it is removable.

Post from NCG got me thinking! What about using mole skin, like they make for inside of shoes to prevent sllipping or rubbing. Fairly cheap and thin as well. Easily removed also and subtle light tan color to boot.
I don't have a brass butt plate on either of my Henrys, but if I did, I might try it.

Velcro your shoulder and brass butt plate.

This works for me on my squirrel rifles. Cut from a sheet of the material used on stair steps. When removed just a little glue may need removed with some WD-40 or glue remover.

Nice, and I"ve often think of getting one for at least one of my lever guns. The problem is I aslo worry that it will eventualy discolor the wood if left on. So then there's the reality of going through the process of putting it on and taking it off anytime I take it out to use it. Still like the way they look and have often looked at various websites and makers to determine which one I would get. But in the end I don't think I will ever get one.
