WARNING – HENRY FACEBOOK IMPOSTERS

I received this email yesterday. Not sure what to think of it.
Dear Henry Family,

It has come to our attention that there are up to a dozen different Facebook pages out there either portraying themselves as our company or actively attempting to scam our fans through illegitimate giveaways.

There is only ONE official Facebook page for Henry Repeating Arms, and it's right here: https://www.facebook.com/HenryRepeating/

I heard something about that myself.

One of the times where I am glad that I have nothing to do with Facebook.

Facebook is good for common interest groups. It does have its usefulness. You can find me there, and I don't hide my pro gun views. I've even posted results of my target shooting there.

I saw the same message from HRA. I am aware of Henry Rifles USA, which posts Henry guns. Some have accused it of being an imposter, but if you check the info on the page, you'll see it's just a fan page. Not sure if it's the scam some claim.

Ive always called it fakebook. Its a place where people can go to air out there dirty laundry with no one challenging them. I cant go into how I feel about the owner of fakebook because it turns into a comment that goes political. I just dont care for the facebook thing and I dont have any interest in being there. Al

I am not into Facebook, Twitter, and STUFF like that.

I was never into them and I will never join them even though I have been asked to join some public and private gun, political, general discussion FB groups, etc. I have been asked to join some old friends FB pages or whatever they call them. Individuals FB pages? I don't know the name for it now. Sorry!

I would rather talk to some old gun/political/general friends on the telephone or in person AND shoot with them at our range! Coffee and/or dinner later on.

Many of my OLD and some of them are dead now (!) friends QUIT many forums as I did but they went to FACEBOOK private and public FB groups because that seemed to be more popular way back when and maybe (?) now too. People say that forums are dying.

I do know several people who went OFFLINE when it comes to forums and all of that STUFF too.

I detest Twitter and all of the other THINGS that have been formed like 'Twitter' too.

Some of the past and present owners in the MEDIA WORLD and their Hired Help are NOT friends to individual gun ownership and the RKBA in various U.S. states and countries around the world too. That IS a fact!

I figure if some people like FB, various groups, various forums and Twitter like STUFF... more power to them.

Cate

Miss Tina and I used Facebook when we ran a veteran's charity because when you are fundraising, one of the first things they'd ask for was your facebook page. (THE first thing? 501c3 tax free documentation... 8-) ) Our facebook page contained an introduction page with an overview of the National program and contact info for our chapter and National. The rest of the page was basically PR, consisting of trip reports, showing the veterans and volunteers kayak fishing, holding up fish, and enjoying the day. :)

Once we passed the charity and the facebook page to new management... I killed my facebook page. I had been tired of Facebook's oversight for some time. When we first joined, simply to support a friend's new kayak fishing webpage, you had a wide range of control of what you saw. I would always select: only important updates and photos when I "added a friend" and I set my page to only friends and family.

Eventually... FB figured out that hurt advertising dollars, and took away most of your controls. I opened FB one morning and ninety five percent of the new posts on my friends and family page.... were folks I didn't know. Mostly friends or friends of friends of my four kids. Their posts? Candy Crunch Game Scores and pictures of what they had for lunch...

I killed the FB page that same day, and haven't been back.
If a company says I have to "go to FB for more product information..." I go to another company. ;)
