Color CXaseharedened Big Boys

I just read on another forum that H.R.A. is considering building some Big Boy rifles of various calibers with the color case receiver. Does anyone have any real news about this ?

it was reported a good while back that Henry has plans to increase the number of color casehardened rifles .... I hope that means the increase is on the way

Hopefully. With an octagon barrel. Drilled and tapped for a williams receiver sight and a tang sight.

Oooh a .357 carbine octagon barrel with a Skinner receiver mount peep. That is on my wish list.

we have several threads with pictures and comments from folks who have changed the color of their Henry's receiver .... I've spoken with a gunsmith who has the equipment and knowledge to take a production rifle and color case harden it .... I have seen samples of his work and he's really good .... down the line (hopefully late this year or early next year) I hope to send him my BBS 44 mag and have him take it apart and color case harden it .... I really like the finish of our color case hardened 45-70 and would like to have both our BBS 44 & 357 color case hardened as well ....

Any ideas of a ball park figure of how much he charges to do the job?

When I asked Anthony about the 38-55 caliber coming in the CCH he said he couldnt release the details right now. Which makes me think there up to something new maybe. Will see but the 38-55 is coming this fall he says. Al

not yet, haven't gotten that serious about it .... whatever it is has to be much cheaper than buying a new rifle

on his website : "Color Case Marlin Lever Action Receiver $300 Due to Extra Precautions Necessary" .... Henry isn't mentioned but I'd be surprised if it isn't in that neighborhood .... that's the reason I haven't had ours done .... one day hopefully
