Henry is really coming out with a lot of new rifles. Tell me these aren't all beautiful. I like that Big Boy Steel and the "Long Ranger".

H010CC got my juices flowing. Color case hardening looks macho.

The receiver engraving of the deer on the Steel Wildlife Edition .30-30 (H009WL) sure looks very sharp!
Every time Henry sets out a new rifle, they are looking better & better.

I was seriously thinking of a brass wildlife edition 45/70. Normally engraving is a little over the top with bling for me. But Henry does such a nice job with their laser engraving. They really are pretty in person. After already owning 2 brass Henry's I now kinda like a little bling. But no one had one local or online when I looked. When I found the plain brass 45/70 at a gun show I couldn't pass up the price.

Yes the black wildlife editions are very pretty in person. The dealer told me the inlays were gold leaf.

Hmmm... that new Long Ranger is intriguing. Looks as though it should compete with the Browning BLR. Be interesting if someone does a head to head comparison of them.

back in 1970 we bought a Browing BLR chambered for 308 .... unless Henry makes a major design change, the BLR's rotary bolt that locks it in place like a bolt action will give it an edge .... the actions on both of our Henry rifles are very smooth .... the action on our BLR is smoother

I'm watching it now. Rack and pinion action with a rotating bolt.

like I said earlier, incredibly smooth lever action .... on the negative side, a person shouldn't take a BLR apart unless they have been well trained in its reassembly .... the internal gearing must be reassembled in precisely the correct manner .... I know independent gunsmiths who won't do so and recommend only taking it to a Browning Certified Service facility

I've never had a centerfire Henry apart. I wonder if they are as easy to work on as the rimfires?

I've looked at these Henry Videos several times and the process doesn't appear to be very difficult :

Thanks. It never occurred to me to look there.

So many Henrys, so little money!

I need to either find a second job (and have no time to shoot what I buy), rob a bank (and be in prison or get shot), or win the lottery (need to buy a ticket)!

Inheriting money is out (all my family elders are dead and nobody had any monetary wealth anyway) and it is too late to marry it (after 41 years, I don't want to start over).

I guess I could find a rich mistress to keep me and .....
Never mind!

I need to sell off part of my herd of rifles that I don't shoot any more. I'm in the process of selling 20 and they could generate up to $10,000. That might buy me a few Henry centerfire rifles.

"herd" .. .. talk about an understatement .... talk of selling 20 sure moves your collection to a level way above Herd status ..

Haven't had the 45/70 open yet but the Big Boy is about the same as the Golden Boy. Slight differences but as much as you've worked on the rimfires you'll be right at home inside a Big Boy.

Once you've had either open a couple of times. It will be quite easy and natural to work on. Like the rimfire's you have to be remember to watch the ejector when you pull the bolt and place it. Dab of white grease helps hold it in place.
