H004 - Golden Boy Why????

Why isn't the H004 pre-drilled for a sling? Am I missing some kind of tradition or something? Is it a .22 thing? My Winchester 9422M XTR Magnum is not pre-drilled either...

Yep, pretty much tradition to "bring out the old west." Winchesters aren't either. I would never let anyone take a shot at drilling in my H004. Something like this:

Welcome, jeepman. Those lever guns in the Old West? You didn't carry them around much on foot. You put them in a scabbard and hung it on your horse. Even in more recent years, back when deer hunters would walk through the woods (instead of sitting in tree stands like they do now), a Marlin or Winchester deer rifle would be carried by holding onto the receiver.
If you do need a sling, there are plenty of authentic looking leather slings available that attach without studs and swivels. The one Dutch has is an excellent example.

I took those photos off the internet, I don't use a sling.

My .44 Big Boy has them... I am just too nervous to drill into my Golden Boy. I guess to me a rifle seems naked without a strap. I see the no drill straps I just dont like them. I guess I will just carry it like a man lol

I like the NO drill slings . If you hunt with a high dollar gun and drilling a hole in one would just ruin the value on a gun . The No drill slings are perfect for those guns . This is not a new idea . This is a copy of one for Muzzle loader back 200 yrs ago .

Maybe cause it's just a H001, but I drilled the stock for a sling. It's a $280 gun that I'm never going to sell................

My wife wanted a sling on her golden boy so i made one with paracord. She likes it. And it was cheap and will come off if she ever wants with no changes to the rifle. I did the lever too so its easier on her hand.

That's fantastic! It's a perfect choice of material and color for the Golden Boy. Great job. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Oh, yeah, send one my way. Don't know where we'd keep one, but a girl can dream.
