Humbug (seems appropriate to say this close to Christmas). The Devil made me bid on, and win, a 1957 Ruger Single Six on Gunbroker. Seems like it will be a pretty nice gun (I haven't received it yet), but now I am broke. Well, at least as far as gun money goes.

What I really wanted to get next was a Henry Big Boy Steel in .357/.38.

I also have so many things on my "wish list" that I'm running out of paper. A few of them include:

1. A military surplus rifle, such as a Garand or a 1903A3. Or even a Mauser.

2. A nice blued 1911, possibly a Colt Series 70.

3. A double action .357 revolver, possibly a Ruger GP100, or even a Security Six.

4. A nice traditional bolt action rifle (walnut and blued steel) in .30-06 or .308.

5.....

Congrats on your new acquisition! That's quite a wish list for Santa too. I only have an H011C on my list but it's a bank account breaker too. As much as I want the HRA one, the Cimarron Uberti 1860 is more in line with my budget.

Yup. It was the Devil. You could be the proud owner of a Henry Big Boy right now; but instead you will totally enjoy the hellfire coming out that six shooter.

That looks like a short list.

I love my Henry BBS in .357. I really recommend saving up for one next!

I have a nice '76 model I'm thinking about putting on Armslist, I doubt it has 80rds through it.
I really hate getting rid of it but it just sits in the safe and I have no young'n to give/leave it too, or anyone I like enough to leave it too.

When I die I hope everything I own BLOWS UP the second I pass. I'm not going to be laying around while everyone waits for me to die like 75% of the population waits on their seniors too do. Yeah I know, I have a fu mindset but that's how it seems what is happening these days.

The older Colts have a revolver like bluing back then unlike the rice paper thin bluing they do these days.

I can't blame you for not letting that one get away.

I have promised myself my next firearm purchase will be a Browning Buckmark, maybe next year.

Congratulations, you usually can't go wrong with a Single Six! Hope you find it to be just what you wanted and that you will be able to fulfill some of your "wish list" in the near future.

Even I would have wanted the 1957 Single Six.

I see a lot of people on other gun forums posting things like "I gotta stay away from Gun Broker" and I'm sure it's for that very reason.

It's SO much fun to shop new firearms. I finally understand the shopping experience/addiction. Muaahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa

You made a good choice. I bought a Ruger Flat Top Convertible in 357/9. I may need another convertible... We'll see how I like it when it gets here. SAs are fun and a good way to sloooow down.

I have one of those. It may be my favorite gun. I have the blued version with the 5.5 inch barrel. My only complaint? I wish I would have bought two of them!

Ha! My father has a blued one and I believe in the same size as yours. I went for the 4" model in stainless (4 7/8"? I forget the exact length).

The 45 convertible is kinda tugging at me... There is a Williams Shooters Supply model with a 5" barrel and a Bisley grip that looks neat. I don't have a 45 Colt handgun yet. I'm still pondering it. The 357/9 will be fun until I decide...

We picked a 1958 Single Six over the summer. Unlike the slightly later versions when Ruger started shipping Single Sixes with the extra magnum cylinder (circa 1960), ours has the true 22 LR bore size of .222", rather than the later .224" bore size to accommodate the 22mag. In addition, these early guns had throated cylinder chambers, unlike later versions with no throats. Both are accuracy enhancing features that you do not get on even slightly later Single Sixes when shooting 22 LRs. These features, plus the fact that these are Old Model guns, makes these 50's Singles some of the most desirable, plus most accurate, Single Sixes ever made. Just thought I would mention it in case you didn't know what a gold mine you have purchased. Seriously, if you ever decide to sell it, please let me know.

Ignore the three larger 357 mag holes in this target. All the rest are compliments of the 58 Single.

I'm comin' up there so you can teach me to shoot like that.
