Found one

Post by Snakebit » Tue Nov 22, 2016 9:29 pm

Well fellas I found one I like. This was in the LGS as a new in box so it was priced about $50.00 off the new Big Boys and its a carbine to boot. Originally purchased at Cabella's in July it looks like. The shop made a great trade in offer on my Ruger Mini 14. Its a busy weekend but I think I can make it to the range.

Congrats on finding a great Henry. Those brass big boy carbines are nice - I think you'll really like the way that gun shoots and feels. I've got a 44 brass carbine and that is my favorite "big plinker". The only thing I changed were the sights (skinner rear/lyman globe front) because my old eyes just couldn't see the original buckhorn - otherwise I wouldn't have changed anything on that rifle.

I agree with the our fellow members. I think you will really like the brass carbine. The balance is great with the reduced weight/barrel length.

Great find... I would have bought it too! Enjoy...

Thanks everyone. Cant wait to get some range time. I stopped after work and picked up a couple boxes of ammo, so with 4 days off I think I can do it. I ordered a Henry catalog it seems like only a week or so ago and it showed up in the mail today, thats not a good thing. I want another one and I haven't even shot this one. Trying to remember the Christmas obligations. Happy Thanks giving

Nice choice. I have the 44 mag version and it is one of my favorite shooters. I added a Skinner Express rear sight taller front blade(ike TractorTad, my eyes don't do well with the buckhorns), Merit aperture and a large loop lever.

I am sure you will enjoy it for years to come.

Well you came out ahead for a great rifle - Maybe I am biased but I was never a fan of the Mini-14 personally.

Yea it just sat at home after a few outings. I have a fair amount of ammo to sell off and 6 20 round mags. That translates to some accessories for the Henry.

Yea like most Rugers they are a QUALITY rifle but the ergonomics are horrible and the sights worse. And accuracy seems to vary from one to another. Not even a blip on my gun 'radar'.
