Henry .41 magnum

Henry must have recently produced a run of steel .41's because GunBroker has several pages of them listed. I may call around locally and see if there are any available. Henry is still not doing these with side gates and not sure if I will get one or not. It would seem like they could chamber .41 mag side gates without any costly production issues but it ain't happening.

There's more to it than just chambering, but maybe they will if there's a big enough market/profit for the .41, which I doubt. .41mag has always been a niche/connoisseur caliber that lives in that narrow strip of gundum between .357 and .44. I'll be keeping mine, which I bought before Henry caved in on side gates.

I have one of the early ones and I love it, however I would've preferred the shorter 16.5" version, but
it wasn't offered at first.

I checked with several local shops today and there are no .41 carbines available in their pipelines. So then I got to thinking... a rarity indeed...There are three .41 revolvers in the safe and they haven't been seeing much use lately. If the .41 Big Boy is sensitive to OAL length like the BB's I already own then two of my .41 Bullet molds probably aren't going to cycle.

Since I currently have 4 HO15's and get the warm fuzzies every time I shoot them it seemed like a good plan B. It's probably safe to say Henry isn't going to chamber the SS's in .41. My .360 Buckhammer X-Model does a fine job with 200 gr. Hornady RN's at 2200 fps and also shoots very well with 180 gr. cast and jacketed going about 450 fps slower. Only problem is the point of impact is way lower.

So, there are two area dealers that have .360 Buckhammer SS's on backorder for me. Whoever calls first. This gun will get run at about .357 Maximum horsepower levels and hopefully will lead to more warm fuzzies.

I've been able to run some pretty heavy/long cast in mine with little to no problem.
I cast a 270gr wfn that cycles and shoots just fine.
Like Al said I'll have mine until.
I bet I have a pic of some of those, let me look.

I couldn't find one, give me a couple days, we're out of town for a couple more days. I'll get a pic., and check the oal, in the meantime here's mine and the 280's were some old Beartooth bullets.

You know I know all you super casters like casting your big lead bullets. But if my Hornady 210 xtp in the 41 wont do the job Ill just stay on the porch.

Ive got 5 or 6 boxes of Nosler 210 hp also. I haven’t tried any of those yet but I anticipate good things

My carbine version 41 mag likes the Hornady 210 XTP’s also. Does much better with 2400 than H-110. Tip of the cap to you who cast your own.

Nice grouples, but you really should move them a couple clicks. But you know that.

Hatch. Some nice groups all around, but yes looks like the 17.7 out perform the rest.
Heck next time I load some of those I'll try 5 and see it might be the magic also.

What yardage were those shot at Hatch and is your 41 scoped???

I had similar results with mine when I shot 17.8 grs of 2400. But my rifle isnt scoped. My shooting was done with irons

What yardage were those shot at Hatch and is your 41 scoped???

50 yards and yes to scoped, a 2-7x. I shot these groups from a bench but I’m mostly shooting off hand these days. Got loads figured out for my Henry’s so time to leave the bench and shoot gongs and bowling pins. Love tight groups but love reactive targets more.

Yep Gunny, these groups were just for load tests and my 41 is now dialed for POI at 50 yards. So much fun these rifles are.
