H015 Single Action?

I am looking at the single shot, H015. Every thing I read indicates it is a great simple hunter. I have not decided which caliber. It would be 223 or 270. I understand Henry has addressed the recall issues from a few years ago and I would appreciate any feedback good or bad from thoughts of you that have a sing shoot Henry.

Ive got one in 357. I like it alot. I put a red dot sight on it and its a great plinker. I dont hunt anymore but there is another member here who has a 357 single shot and has taken deer with his. I recently saw one in 243 at a gun show but the guy was asking to much for it so i passed. I dont shoot mine as much as I should but may do more in the future since primers have become easier to find as of lately. The single shot isnt chambered in 270 you would need to jump to 308, 30-30, 350, or 450 to get the bigger caliber

I have 4 h015 shotguns, sorry no rifles. No complaints. I sent one back(warranty) for ejector problems and another came with a cracked stock. Henry took care of it promptly. I'd like to pick up a 223/556.

I used a H015 .44 mag for deer hunting in the deep woods last fall. All your going to get in the woods is one shot anyway and it's short, light and handy in a ladder stand. The trigger pull is crisp and clean at 4lbs. after the recall. Before that it was probably the worst trigger of any gun I've ever owned. Probably 8 to 9 lbs. and creepy. Since then I've picked up 3 more...a .223 and two .357's and all have decent triggers. The second .357 had such nice wood and trigger pull I couldn't pass it up. I planned to have it reamed out to .357 max but now thinking to leave as it is. Henry claimed the recall was for safety concerns but I'm thinking part of the reason was they were getting so much flack about the trigger and hammer pulls that they had to redesign them. The new V-2's I've encountered are much improved.

I too have a ss in 44 mag. Love it to carry in the woods and does shoot well. Quality is excellent.

I have the HO15 in .350 Legend. Very accurate with the open sights. The trigger is decent and the stock is beautiful. Only complaint is the hammer could be a tad wider. I put a hammer extension on mine which helps my old arthritic thumb cock it. Little on the pricey side but you get a solid rifle that's made in the USA!

I have 2 rifles and a shotgun, and they are great firearms that are simple and functional. No complaints here.

I wouldn’t take anything for my 243. But I’m pretty partial to that caliber, grew up with and never seen the need in switching. Dad, son and myself have all used that caliber over the years and has yet to let us down. Shot placement is key imo.

Also have a 20 gauge as my shotgun these days. Feel about the same for the 20 as I do the 243.

Single shot is all a person needs imo.

If the owner mounts a scope on the rifle, it is almost a necessity that a hammer spur is used. Too little clearance between the hammer and the scope to make manipulation easy.
