Actually it's about 95% zinc, 4% aluminum,1% copper and small amount of magnesium to form an alloy called Zamak5.

I like the idea as well. I wanted a rifle in the same caliber as my revolver. So, I got a Marlin 1894. I like the idea of having a rifle in the same caliber as a sidearm. Now, the Homesteader is a option for the same thing with my pistol. The increase in velocity and power with a longer barrel may be just below my 1894, which can take down a medium size deer at 75 yards or so. It should work fine in and around the house for 2 and 4 legged targets. I have not plans of being in a shoot out. But, it is good to have options.
P.S.
According to this chart, 9mm out of a 16" barrel is more comparable to a .38 special than a .357 Mag though. Yet, there is still an increase in power:

That would be Zamak #3. According to a Henry Andy Windham email quote over on Rimfire Central Henry uses #5.

I am very surprised to hear that the forestock is plastic.
Edit: Dave found out it is in fact walnut.
