Please check the Homesteader forum. I asked the folks at Henry and the forend is walnut.

I believe the plastic context of that was about the Marlin. Putting two posts together.
A camp gun is a Marlin 9mm semi-auto that was built a few decades ago.
That explains the design in the forend. I dont care for imitation wood plastic
