Henry Quality?

Post by ol'pole » Wed Mar 02, 2022 7:19 pm

I wrote this

Anthomy,

My name is Steve and Ii bought one of your rifles a model H012GCCC. I had a choice between a Rossi, Marlin and a Henry, I bought a Henry, I guess I wanted to believe all the hype. I should have bought the Rossi and saved myself $400+ with a rifle of the same or better Quality as the Henry that I spent $800+ on.
I found that Henrry firearms KNOWINGLY built and sold defective rifles that wouldn't cycle properly for over 2 years, there is evidence of this online on different forums. In one forum a member said how his rifle wouldn't cycle properly, he sent it into HWS and they took a Dremel and hacked on the lever to remove metal and expand the opening for the carrier plunger. You should see the piss poor job they did, (there are pictures online). Henry knowing this problem existed DID NOTHING TO CORRECT it. WHY ????
I bought a large loop for hunting installed it and went to the range, the new large loop that I paid Henry $50+ for WOULDN'T CYCLE my rifle. After hunting I was told to send it in and I would receive a NEW rifle, I thought 'great they fixed the problem' guess what you didn't. The replacement rifle has the same defect in the action plus this rifle has other problems, it came to me loaded with some kind of blue snot, I think it was grease, had to scrape it out there was so much, as I was reassembling the rifle (after removing the blue goo) without installing the tang screw I pulled the hammer back and the stock moved about 1/8", the tang is .045" below the stock, every picture in your catalog and on your web site shows the tang proud to the stock. Jake (said he was some sort of engineering manager) and Andy W both said that these conditions were ok and that I should accept then. Oh yeh the stock on the replacement rifle was dented coming out of the box, GREAT HENRY QIALITY.
Andy replaced the stock (again) with a new one, I must say some of the prettiest wood I have ever seen, Doesn't fit worth a damn but it's pretty. The gap between the receiver and stock starts at a .012" at the top (tang) and expands to a .030" at the bottom (lever) GREAT QUALITY WORKMANSHIP. This stock wasn't fitted it was slapped on and sent out without being inspected, the fore stock has a .020" gap and doesn't fir the receiver evenly about .035" larger than the receiver.
I wonder if I will ever own a Henry rifle that operates properly and looks as good or better than the ones in your catalog and wed site. I am curious if I will ever hear from you about this.
I doubt it.

Sincerely

Steve

I've just got two Henry's, but when I bought my first, the problem I had was solved quickly. In fact, handled so efficiently, I bought the second right away.

That’s what happened to me too. I now have 18.

I bought my first Henry in 2000 when ammo was plentiful. I still have enough to supply Ukrainian.
