For Real?

Post by markiver54 » Tue Feb 08, 2022 8:41 pm

I don't visit pawn shops often, however, I decided to kill some time today, and went into a couple local ones.
Only saw one Henry, which took me by surprise!!
Now....I have two Henry catalogs and what he showed me was nothing I've ever seen from Henry!
It was a .22, a lot like my SGC, but it had a dark grey wood grain stock. Also it was a smooth bore, probably 20" barrel designed for shooting .22 shot shells....somebody, please enlighten me!🤔
A .22 SMOOTH bore??

For real and it came out about 2 years ago I think. Called the Garden Gun a smooth bore for .22 shot shells. Was the price good on it?

There’s one at our local pawn/gun shop for $459.00. Good price on the one at your shop.

Yeh, I'm thinking it might be a good one to have around up at the cabin.

Guess I didn't look hard enough the first time. Just looked in my newest catalog and it's on page 15, ( last page ).
MSRP is $446.00. That tells me, if I want it, then I should be able to get it for considerably less. Especially used.
If I decide to go for it, I might offer $350.00 and see if he bites! 😁

Mark, I hope you get it. It's a niche type of gun if you plan to use it. I had mine on order from my favorite shop as soon as they came out. I got it a year or so later. It was well worth the wait.
The different color wood and exposed grain is to help you make sure you know what you have in your hands. They do not recommend firing regular cartridges in the garden gun. The .22lr shot shells only. With it's purpose and smooth barrel, there's no reason to shoot regular cartridges. I've seen it done on youtube, but I haven't tried it. Again, no need to.
I got it for my garden. For use in and around the barn too. I haven't had many rounds in "anger" through it, but it has done what I needed it to. I think it may be harder to find .22lr shotshells.

Garden guns are interesting and useful. I have a single shot in 9mm Flobert (rimfire) that is blued with walnut. I have carried it in the pasture a few times just to bring along. It hasn't done anything other than shoot at some clays.

Keep us posted Mark.

Thanks Dave,
I'm sitting here finding ways in my mind to justify it. I really like the idea of having one, as I said, for the cabin.
I know you can get the shot shells online at CCI Direct.
Might be hard to find retail though, which is one of my concerns. Don't know yet if I will grab it or not, but, will probably go back by the PS today to see what he would let it go for.
