Hard chrome when done right is a very durable product. There are companies that put it on revolvers and other firearms.

well, its as close to stainless as Henry gets .... my guess would be stainless is harder to work and cost considerably more ... we have a stainless Remington 700 (30-06) its a fine rifle but it is my least used big game center fire rifle

I too would like to see a stainless steel Big Boy in 357magnum with a side gate .
