I had just ordered a Henry Big Boy Steel 357 Carbine from Sportsmans Guide and it shipped to my dealer in Denham Springs, LA on 8-11-2016. Well subsequently the Great Flood of 2016 happened here in Southeast Louisiana and my poor Henry probably got submerged in 6 feet of flood water along with S&W Shield 9mm pistol I had ordered.
I say probably because I haven't laid eyes on the rifle yet as the owner of the gun shop all sustained 6 feet of water in his home and won't be able to get to the shop till next week to assess the damage. This was a 500 year flood event that was sustained by a stationary tropical storm that dumped somewhere between 20 and 30 inches of rain in the area. I've lived in this area for 40 years and have never seen this and I've talked to some old timers in their early 90's that have never seen this kind of flooding.
I'm pretty sure the owner didn't have flood insurance but may have had it on his house.
Anyways, I contacted Mr. Imperato of Henry Firearms explaining my dilemma and inquiring about about whether I could possibly get my Henry refurbished.
His reply was that one way or another I would be getting a new or like new Henry rifle.
So-- Hip Hip Hooray for Henry !!!!

Agreed, Hunter. Yours is one of many kudos I've seen for Henry and President Imperato. Henry is an excellent company. Remember when the Bayonne, NJ Henry facility got clobbered by that severe weather a few years ago? I'm certain they all know exactly what's happening in your area! Gratefully, they came back okay. Trusting your area will recover, too

Very sorry to again read of the terrible results of the flooding that so many folk have to deal with. Praying for good recovery for the many.

Hunter, it may have been 500 years since the last one, but I wouldn't count on the historical data to predict the next time this happens there.
Of course, Henry Repeating Arms Company is the only company that will protect your investment without having flood insurance!!!!

Replacing it would be above and beyond the call of duty.

Absolutely devastating. We have seen the pictures on the news and one of my son's friends who lives there sent some pictures via email. His house had four feet of water in it so now all his friends came over and they have torn the drywall out and saved as much of their belongings as possible. I know this nice guy because I have hunted with him and been to his house in Baton Rouge and been to a NASCAR race at Talladega with him and my son. I am so sorry for everyone concerned. Henry Repeating Arms is the greatest! Glad to hear that things should work out for you in regards to this.

Basically what he told me was that one way or another I would have a perfect rifle. I just have to wait and see what kind of condition it is in once I get to examine it. The water all went down fairly quickly after about 3 days but then the I'm sure it rusted up after being exposed to air afterwards.
I called and asked S&W if they could do anything about my Shield pistol that was there also but no luck there but I wasn't really expecting anything from either but Henry is the best for sure. I will be looking at getting another Henry lever in 22 magnum probably later on once things start to normalize.
It did a lot of devastation to these small cities in this area. It probably did more monetary loss in the eastern part of Baton Rouge with it being a lot more populous and lots of neighborhoods that went underwater.
Yea i wouldn't doubt if some of these storms don't become the norm but this stationary tropical storm just kept dumping rain. It's also been raining here in different parts of the area every afternoon since this storm but of course a lot less rain. I think we got a third of our yearly precipitation in this one storm.

It's amazing that part of our country is besieged with wild fires and another is under water!
My heart goes out to any of our members that might be affected....

Henry is sending me a new rifle. I still haven't heard back from my FFL dealer that has my flooded Henry and S&W pistol, so who knows when I will be able to get those back into my hands to see if they can be salvaged.

This is a situation where Henry has no fault or liability in what happened. That they will step up and make you happy speaks volumes about how much they care about their customers.

I hear raves about Henry CS. Did you send your rifle to Henry yet and what was the out come?

As a follow on: Mr. Imperato corresponded with me on the week end. He made sure the return authorization was sent to me. I received a repair order from Henry that said "replace barrel per Mr. A". He stayed involved. I received my Henry Frontier today and my rifle is beautiful, just as he promised. Mr. A is a man of his word.

BTW, because of his honesty and integrity I have a brass .357 Big Boy with custom serial number on order. Probably won't be my last Henry!
