That bullet and velocity should shoot pretty flat out to 150 yds!

per our ballistics program with a Nosler 150 gr Ballistic Tip bullet your bullets trajectory when zeroed at 100 yards would be as shown below

Thanks. I’m thinking parallax at 25 yards for a centerfire scope might be playing a part. Just a guess.

hadn't considered that .... if he fires it using the iron sights and it is close, that eliminates the rifle and leaves the scope as the problem

No shadow was in the scope. Checked and found that Scope is designed for
Parallax Setting 50 yards
It is Diamondback 2-7 X 35
Can that play a role??
