A friend wanted to shoot my single shot 45-70 to assess recoil, and just see if he'd like one (answer was absolutely he does ). He brought along a 9mm carbine like the Ruger ( I didn't think to look at who made it ), fitted with ghost ring sights, for me to try. So I emptied an 8 shot clip at a 50 yard target, all on the bull (no x rings, though). Nice little rig, alright, but its only use for me would be home defense, since I'm not a handgun guy. For that use, it does merit consideration.

Your other use could be for range fun. That's where my Ruger PCC gets most of it's use. They are just plain fun to shoot.

True, that. Since most of my shooting is practicing for hunting, clays for upland and waterfowl, sighting in rifles, etc., I guess I'm predisposed to not think of just having fun. I gotta reconsider my ways .

That's where my Ruger PCC gets most of it's use. They are just plain fun to shoot.

I got mine as kind of a 'grab and go' gun when heading out to the woods for a ride or other activities and for some impromptu, unplanned shooting takes place - such a jack or 'yote crosses my path!

he's not yet been interested in going anywhere near semi-autos.

Without dissecting every single word of my previous posts, let's just run with the core theme: he has no interest in any defensive products, and he's quite happy avoiding products that could be painted in a negative light.

A semi-auto 9mm would place him among "assault rifle" generalities, and he has no interest.

The "people-killing magazines" reference, as should have been clear from the context, was one that could be used by anti-gunners in lumping a semi-auto CENTERFIRE among evil products typically used more to kill people than for hunting or recreation.
You've got to have seen detachable mags have been demonized.

Right now, he has a relatively "innocent" product line, politically speaking.
Hard to paint him as the purveyor of "killing machines" when you're talking about "America's Rifle", the humble levergun.
Nobody's gonna take one of his single-shot centerfires to a school mass murder.
And so on.

Yes, obviously a 9mm CAN be used for recreation.
Obviously he DOES make a semi-auto rimfire.

Stop arguing with peripherals grasp the core issue.

I would love to see Henry make an SAA clone. All polished steel with a nickel or black chrome finish, with a brass trigger and hammer. Very fancy cowboy gun or if the 1911 is unavailable, an excellent BBQ gun. Can you imagine the possibilities an engraver could create on that platform. Must stop now, rainbow titanium just flashed before my eyes. Must flush brain. Honestly, any revolver Henry cares to make would work for me.
