I thought that I had posted under this thread a long time ago, so I checked and there was a picture of the Golden Boy when I was at the range which is near the beginning of the thread. So, here is one of the Classic Lever Action that I took last year when I was hiking in the state forest. I guess I just laid the .38 special there also because I was carrying it.

That made me smile. I feel that way, too; SAAs and lever rifles are nearly the perfect pairing. You've got a beautiful collection of Henrys. Thanks for the great post.

Here is a couple of pics of my new Henry All-Weather 45–70. I put some weaver see-thru scope mounts on it that directly screw to the receiver without using any sort of rail. It was hard to figure out which see-thru sites would fit, but I discovered that those for the marlin 1895 fit perfectly. I also upgraded the rear buckhorn site to a stainless steel Skinner aperture sight. The whole thing works wonderfully. Now I can use the iron sites and switch to scope view very quickly without either being impeded.

I've posted it a couple times elsewhere, but missed posting here! My new H001, just bought it Sunday. Got it at Dick's Sporting Goods, $319 before tax. Given shipping and FFL fees with online purchases, this was a good deal, plus I got to pick out a nice stock! Found one with nice tiger striping. I look forward to breaking it in!

My 357 Steel Carbine! I am thrilled to finally have it. The Skinner Lo Pro is mounted in the rearmost hole on the receiver. As you can see, it is only able to screw down so far. It extends into the bolt any further down. After some shooting, next week, I will file off the threads to allow for lowering the peep further. I will try to document the sighting and sight adjusting. I plan to stay with the Henry front bead, for now anyway. I have already removed the buckhorn and will fill the dovetail with a blank. Maybe a spare aperture type.
I am still planning a scope, after I learn to shoot the peep sight.

I want to thank all of you for your ideas and comments. I have learned so much just reading of your experiences. This is just the beginning. I own a half dozen firearms, but this is the first one I went out and bought for myself.

I will post targets as I can.

Here's mine.

Golden Boy youth (H004L). Modded with full size butt stock, Skinner peep and large loop lever. Basically I built a small game carbine 2 years before Henry did, I wonder if I can get royalties or something.

I use the peep a with no aperture/ ghost ring style, just put the brass bead on the target and shoot. I really like it, deadly out to 50 yards when I manage to hold still.

Very nice mods on your rifle. Yup, it does look a lot like my SGC! I most often use the .096" aperture, which came stock on the H001TLP. I have all the Skinner aperture sizes, and found this one works well. Otherwise, I would go with the ghost ring as you have. That is a good way to use the peep also. I have one ghost ring on another long gun, and when I owned my 12-gauge, it was made with a rear ghost ring and front blade, both stock. These rear sights are my favorite.
