I looked in at the Henry Repeating Arms site just now; I haven't looked there for a while. I see that the single shot rifle page, and the single shot shotgun page as well, now say shipping in July. That correlates with what we've heard via E-mail, tool. So July it is! (I hope )

Can anyone tell us if a skinner sight from a Marlin will fit on one of these single shots? Skinner website says that any Marlin sight will fit on a Henry but I don't know if it includes the single shots.

I don't think so; the single shots don't have a receiver like lever actions. What should fit is the sight made for the Harrington & Richardson/NEF single shots. I'm basing that on the fact that the new Henry rifles will use the same scope base. The hole spacing and barrel contour should match, then. The catalog indicates they're drilled and tapped for a Weaver 82 base. I can't prove it, since mine hasn't arrived yet .

I just checked the Henry website and the only options are the .223 and .243? Is this a website issue or is there more to it?

I don't know what's up with that. So I E-mailed Henry, since I'm awaiting a 45-70 ordered early in April. I'd kinda like to know what, if anything, is holding up progress.

I've been thinking about it and my conclusion is that they are updating the specifications. If I'm not mistaken, the rifles were less than 7 pounds, now the ones they have listed are over 7 lbs. someone correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I think might have happened

I happen to have my Henry catalog handy, which lists all the spec.s for all the new single shots. The weights shown for the .223 and .243 are the same as originally indicated. As the two smallest bore and chamber dimensions, they have a little more wall thickness, thus weigh a bit more than the .308 and 45-70, which are barely under 7 lbs. The 45-70 is listed as the lightest (6.83 lbs), which may be a mixed blessing . I'll speculate that they're filling the orders for the calibers that showed the greatest demand first, and the others will follow. I would 'a thought everyone wanted a 45-70 (but have to admit I considered both a .223 and .243, as well) .

6.83, ouch!! I can feel my shoulder throbbing already, but that's ok; it'll be a heck of a fun rifle to have.

At least the steel version will have a good recoil pad. The brass version, not so much . By the time I put a steel base (Warne makes one I like better than the Weaver 82), rings and a low power scope on mine, it'll weigh close to a pound more, which will tame it a bit. Speaking of mine, today I received an E-mail from Henry that the single shots will be in production at Rice Lake by the end of the month, and shipping - probably - early in August. No mention of the web site only indicating .223 and .243, but I didn't really pursue that. I'll ask if I get a chance.

I have a week or so ago. I just noticed that they've updated their web site to say they'll be shipping the steel framed rifles early in August, and again listing all of the cartridges originally shown. They briefly listed only .223 and .243, which caused me to send off an E-mail wondering about the 45-70 .

Does any one know if the Williams wgrs rear sight for the handi will fit on the Henrys? If so to clarify, the sight goes mounted towards the back of the barrel and not where the factory sight is right?

A good question, but, if the WGRS uses the holes drilled for the scope base, it should fit the Henry. I do know the scope mount base indicated for the Henry - Weaver 82 - is the same as the H&R/Handi-rifles. That is assuming the location, as well as the hole spacing, is nominally the same. I happen to already have a Weaver 82 base, and hope to confirm this, soon .

Received a email response from Henry Repeating Arm regarding info on single shot rifles shipping date.
" Good news it looks like they are finally starting to ship! The shotguns started rolling out last week and the rifles should be coming out now "

I furthered that query and was told that their production rate is slower than they'd like it to be, so it'll be a while before all of the distributors have the rifles they've ordered. As long as I know they're in production, I can manage to be patient - i think - guessing that they're behind some on all the new models introduced this year. I do hope it (steel .45-70) shows up before deer season, though.

This action would make great single shot pistols in heavy revolver calibers, also could make good 16.5 inch barrel carbine companions to revolvers if they had more revolver calibers.
