Re: For Real?
I would guess based on the price, they are pretty old. I did order some CCI's recently that are $10.99 for 20 rounds from CCI direct. OUCH. I know Federal makes them too thank goodness. I just hope for the future that they will always be available.
Thanks Dave.
Thanks Dave.

Re: For Real?
I didn't get a photograph, but I cleaned out my pantry / storage area and opened an ammo can marked .22. Inside I had a different sized box of Winchester .22lr shot shells with a generic price tag of $10.95 on it. I want to say there were 50 in the box. I know, I should have taken the time to gotten a photograph. Perhaps soon. I was on a mission of another sort.

Re: For Real?
Understood Dave. That price suggests that maybe winchester still makes them. Hope so!daytime dave wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 2:47 pmI didn't get a photograph, but I cleaned out my pantry / storage area and opened an ammo can marked .22. That's awesome Mark. Congratulations on a nice set of stocks. Did you get any ammunition?
Here are some shots of the more modern Winchesters I recently found.

Re: For Real?
Thank you Dave. Yes, I ordered a couple boxes from CCI which are due to arrive this Friday
Also found one box locally for $1.00 more than the other two
No shipping charge when I can find them locally though.
Will be on the lookout for some Winchesters.

Re: For Real?
Good luck Mark. Let us (me) know when you shoot it. I plan to pattern and distance check mine in the Spring so I can safely shoot it in my barn if need be. I also don't want to take out any plants at too close a range.

Re: For Real?
My brother who I don't see often, lives about 1/2 hour south of me in a rural area. He knew I had gotten the Garden Gun and invited me down to try it out on his property. Needless to say, I went!
The gun performed as I expected it to. I was surprised at how relatively quiet it was. Not really much, if any louder than my Sheridan Pump pellet rifle.
The patterning of the shot was such that I know it will live up to the duties it was designed for.
Didn't know he had a Golden Boy .22 WMR in perfect condition. We enjoyed shooting it as well! All in all, a good afternoon.

I hope you get good use from your garden gun Mark. They are what they are and not what they are not, and now you know what I mean by that.

I would load 38 spl cases with about a 1.5 grs of unique, cut thin pieces of cardboard using an empty case.
Put the powder in, a piece of cardboard a little bit of rice, and top it with another piece of cb.
Fun out of a 6" revolver.

Re: For Real?
I took my garden gun out yesterday on a trip up to the barn. This thread had stuck in my head and the blue skies and full sun made me remember to take the Henry. I also had only two lag bolts to find and bring back to the house so it made carrying the shotgun simple up and back.
I found nothing that I needed it for, but I did check in and around the area.

Re: For Real?
Mark and anyone else interested, I patterned the garden gun from five yards. Here is my target. Disregard the .177 caliber pellet holes.

Re: For Real?
That's a beautiful gun. How does it cycle?
I've got an old Ithaca Model 66 .410 that my grandfather bought for me around 1971. I never thought about shooting rifled slugs through it. I have some that have small disks and other crazy stuff but slugs would be cool.
I've never seen them but I think they would be cool.

Re: For Real?
Kram, the gun cycles wonderfully. I've fed it the crimped Winchester shells and the plastic domed CCI brand. Neither had a single issue.
As for .410 slugs, they are pretty tough to find. I ordered some on the internet many years ago. I've only shot two as far as I remember. They were accurate at the 35 yard range I shot them at out of a single shot H&R shotgun. I think the choke was modified, but I can't say 100%.
