Why stainless steel over the hard chrome on their all weather rifles? Stainless steel is not as corrosive resistant as hard chrome from my experience and from what I read.

I can rework stainless (polish, buff, bead blast, etc). I can't do much with chrome. It chips. Stainless hasn't given me any issues with responsible care. Plus, I like that the bore is also stainless. And if stainless does give me issue, then I will personally Cerakote it (of which I can also rework).

Got it, understand. I haven't had any problems with hard chrome, no chipping. With other chromes, yes. I have had stainless corrode down here in humid/salty Florida, but not excessively. I would not mind seeing Henry do a nitride treatment, such as Melonite. I have had great results with all my firearms that have that type of treatment. One or another of them is covered in sweat almost every day with no issues.

I wasn't saying stainless to harp on chrome either- I just like stainless quite a bit.

Now, I am a fan of nitriding/Melonite/etc. What a great process... Especially on stainless! I would love to see levers coming out in that finish as well. Good thought!

I didn't take it that you were harping on chrome. I like stainless as well. I have had one revolver that I bought used with a nickel finish. It was chipping. I had it hard chromed and that was fantastic, stood up to wear much better than the nickel.

But, nitriding seems the best to my limited knowledge. I sweat on my Glocks every day and never have any issues.

Thanks again for providing more insight as to why you prefer the stainless. Maybe Henry will come out with some in stainless and also nitride/Melonite. The more choices the better

I will be buying one of the 12 gauge steel framed shotguns when they are available. Not that I NEED another shotgun. That said I would really like to see Henry make a nice inline muzzleloader based on the single shot line. A lot like the H/R or NEF Huntsman's of yesteryear. Would be simple to do.

Speaking of single shots - a bit prematurely, since they're not even out there yet - I'd like to see them do some versions using their skill at engraving and embellishing them, like the Wildlife editions. They would be much like an old time European exposed hammer Kipplauff, in modern high strength materials, and still at an affordable price. Like lever actions, the flat sided receivers are a perfect canvas to engrave. Who would pay that much for a fancy version of a simple, break action single shot? Me, for one .

Single shot rifle in more rimmed calibers, though I suppose the initial demand will keep new calibers a dream until the pipeline is full. .22 Hornet and .30-30 would interest me.
