Of course, I would love it if ANYBODY made a P-08 or P-38 in .22LR.

Stoeger Arms made a Luger styled .22 from about 1969-1985 and they are available. A friend of mine had one many years ago.

Walther also made a P-38 in .22 but you would have to do some internet digging to find details.

Thanks Mistered, and yes I knew about the Stoeger. I looked at a couple on GunBroker or some such site, and for some reason they didn't quite float my boat. I do have a real P-38 and a Legends P-08, so maybe I was looking for a real replica, rather than a clone? I was also worried about having jams, or any problems, and not having the support of the type we're used to seeing from Henry, at least.

Walther still makes a .22 PPK and believe me that is on my radar, as is the Bersa .380.

Those(P08/P38/PPK) and 911s are the only semi autos I like; maybe a browning or victory..................

Edit to add: Wow, just did a search and pulled up one that sold; don't know for what but it's really nice.........

But I still have questions about parts availability and such. NOTHING bums me out faster than a gun that jams. Maybe that's why I don't even go there (semi autos).

Edit to add more: Sorry but the one pictured is a 9mm. It is a Stoeger, however.

Cut the 410 lever down to make a Mare's leg...Henry's version of the Mossberg Shockwave. (the Mare's Wave??)

Review I found when googling the Shockwave:

“When the Mossberg Shockwave was first introduced last year, I thought it looked like a completely useless gimmick. But now that I’ve run a few hundred shells through one, I would like to upgrade its status to mostly useless. It is now functionally a handgun with horrible ergonomics.”


With reviews like this, I bet Henry would be all over it! Makes me want to rush out and buy one!

Although I do agree a short barrel .410 would be cool. Chiapa is now making their mares leg with a full stock (photo below), which to me might be useful. If Henry made one of those in .44 and or .410 I’d be interested. All it “wood” take is adding a full-size stock the the mares leg. Easy as pie. In areas where handgun carry isn’t legal, an ultra short Carbine would be a great bear carry gun. A really short break action .44/.410 combo would be an actual “survival rifle”, even if I’d really prefer more than a single shot of .44 in the event of a bear attack. Let me assure you, I was feeling SUPER comfortable with my SGC in .22 on opening day of hunting season this past Monday when the road I was walking with my Weimaraner was covered in grizzly crap!

Seriously??? Mossberg (and Remington) have sold thousands upon thousands of the shock wave, so many in fact that they now also produce it in the original 12 and 20 and 410 ! Not saying it's for everyone but neither is a muzzle-loader, single-action revolver or Derringer. For THAT matter, who needs a single shot shotgun? Some are just fun to shoot, fit the ATV/snowmobile better, good for "housework" only or stuff under the truck/tractor seat.

I'm sure you can find the odd negative review of, sliced bread, nail clippers (not much good for anything else) by someone. Heck, I bet if you ask a 5 year old boy, "girls are icky " would be his review.

If I was worried about various reviews of Henry's, "stupid, awkward, cheap, loading tube instead of the far superior side gate loaders", and "pot-metal actions", "painted on finishes".... I never would have bought my first Henry (with it's "antiquated" lever action).

For situations like you describe (non hunting/home defense) how often do you even need a fast followup shot?

I think a cheap (relatively) single would be ideal for that.
