Re: For Real?
I guess if I can't find 410 slugs I can shoot 45-70 or 45 LC

Re: For Real?
Lever folks, Kram and I go to the desert when we can to shoot. He has a very nice collection of Lever rifles. Good guy to shoot with. Hopefully next week. This week didn't pan out for any of us.
We'll fix that! The MLC will be in full Spring mode.

Re: For Real?
I have tried slugs in numerous 410's and could never get anything that you would call accuracy from them. Have even played around loading slugs for the 410 and again nothing approaching accuracy that would make them usable past touching distance.daytime dave wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 9:56 amKram, the gun cycles wonderfully. I've fed it the crimped Winchester shells and the plastic domed CCI brand. Neither had a single issue.
As for .410 slugs, they are pretty tough to find. I ordered some on the internet many years ago. I've only shot two as far as I remember. They were accurate at the 35 yard range I shot them at out of a single shot H&R shotgun. I think the choke was modified, but I can't say 100%.
I much prefer 3" OO/SG loads, they contain 5 pellets and pattern better at 20 yards than I can get slugs to group. They are also significantly more powerful with over 1000ft/lbs at the muzzle

Re: For Real?
I didn't order more thank probably 10 slugs in .410. I can't use them for hunting here and got them as a novelty when I ordered some .410 buckshot. If I run across them, I'll let you know what brand they were.

I have never been able to track down any of the european slug loads they may perform better than the Win & Fed stuff that is fairly easy to find here in Aus.
The introduction of 410 revolvers from a number of manufacturers has lead to ammo makers both USA and Euro offering what they are calling self defense loads, Often a mix of buckshot and smaller shot like BB and even slug loads with shot. I havent tried any of theses newer loads as I have been happy with my buckshot loads.

I'm the "mayor" of my neighborhood, well, at least in my cul-de-sac. Like my neighbors. The Veitnamese ones always bring over food. Good eats!
We need to hit the desert SOON!

Re: For Real?
Mark,
Just an update. The garden gun has to be one of the most handy Henry's I have. I constantly carry it to check on the various gardens and planting patches I have around the property. It was purpose built and it sure serves that purpose!

Re: For Real?
Could not agree with you more Dave. Mine sits beside my air rifles, at the ready. I love that it is quiet as well. Even here within city limits, I have popped off a couple shots with no problems. It helps to be known and liked by my neighbors.☺
Thanks for your input! I don't regret my purchase at all.
