Big Boy X-Model 357 sighting

I took a trip to Coeur d’alene ID yesterday on a powder and primer search. Struck out on the components but when I took a look at the rifle rack behind the counter lo and behold there was an X-Model in .357. I pulled many hairs from my bald head several months ago looking for one with no success. So I settled on a BBS 357 for the time being with the thoughts of picking up the X later. Well later is now but the budget is not. Figures.

Nothing wrong with the BBS. I personally think the X models are hideous, but I’ve yet to see one in person.

No, completely struck out. Even on some Shooters Choice grease and solvent and a Lee auto prime shell holder. Left empty handed. Went down the road to Cabelas and found the grease and also picked up a new Lee Auto-Prime. Lee greatly improved the tool and as I had broken both of the plastic lids on my old style primer and have been using tape to keep it closed this will be a great improvement.

Personally I like it, felt good in my hands. I have to admit I have a bit of a tactical rifle appreciation that seems to increase as I get older. There was a time that for me if it wasn’t a bolt action rifle, pump shotgun or a revolver it wasn’t worth owning. I don’t hunt big game anymore but I’ll never sell my 40 year old Ruger 77 in 30-06. And my Henry Big Boys help balance my tastes somewhat and I still have plans to get a Henry 30-30 in wood and blue.
