I like my pump 22. But I see the Lightning by Pedersoli and they are pricey. Not sure Id spend that much for a pump.

I handled a Pedersoli rifle like that in 357 right before I bought my Henry. The price was a big issue. Cabelas wanted $1100. Nice rifle though.

I would like a lightweight 18” carbine in .327 Federal Mag, please. Take my money! But make it lighter than the overweight .327 BB steel.... why won’t Henry make reasonably light firearms? Just flute the barrel and charge an extra $50.....

A lever requires you to release your hand and trigger finger every time. The pump does not, but IMHO you are more likely to short stroke it. I find a pump a lot easier to operate with a natural motion. You can learn to do well with either. I much prefer the look of a nice lever. It’s hard to make a pump rifle fore grip look classy since it either has exposed rails or is too thick.

Having had a pump 590A1 for a long time, I would MUCH rather face down an attacking bear with the pump rifle..... I think I could get off considerably more shots in those few seconds. A semi auto would be faster yet, but not nearly as reliable in cycling.

That's a pretty good point, a few bear facts to know if this ever happens. Bears can clear 100 yards in a matter of seconds and shoulder shots are useless. Sure it's marginally slower, but it's now more pissed and full of adrenaline. You best bet something's with legitimate stoping power. Like the Alaskans like to joke " if your trying to stop a grizz with a 44 magnum file the front sight off. So it hurts less when he shoves it up your . Lol also try to remember they often want as little to do with us as we do them just steer clear of the youngins

Since we’ve gone down the bear “rabbit hole”, I’m considering one of these for a truck gun. Only $279 CDN ($200 USD +/-). 4+1 of 000 buck and if that won’t do it, you were done before you pulled the trigger on shot one... The birds head pistol grip ones are appealing as well, but come 18” barrel only, and if you’ve got to carry the length, might as well be able to aim it at something!

Buckshot is worthless on a large bear. I would not suggest shooting heavy slugs out of that 12” barrel, it would blow your ears right off your head.I think that shorty with mini slugs would be cool, if you were actually allowed to use it for self defense in your home...

These were built by Israel Military Industries (now IWI), and imported by Action Arms and Springfield. They were originally designed for law enforcement at a time when many forces were still using .357/.38 Spl revolvers. They were intended as a trunk/riot gun that would use the same ammo as the 'current' handguns. Unfortunately, by the time they made it to market, many forces had changed to 9mm and .40 cal semi-auto pistols.

Needless to say, they didn't sell well. It's a shame...they're a really slick little rifle, and scarce as hen's teeth. I have the only 2 I've ever seen in person. Both of mine are Springfield versions.

I’m going to beg to differ. Even if you get two shots off, that’s 18 .33 caliber lead balls going at 1500 FPS. Put two of those into the face of a bear and it will be discouraged to say the least.
