You pick them up & put them it the trash when you are done.
We have some slobs at our range who bring out all sorts of things to shoot at then just leave them where they lay.

Now that you mention it...I'm always careful to collect all of my brass and leave nothing behind. But it looks like some guys just shoot dozens of rounds and just walk away. I also found crumpled paper targets laying around. Who thinks that's ok?? Not cool.

I enjoy going to the outdoor ranges here. I don't like the fact that they sometimes look like a dump zone. I've seen everything from microwaves to CRT television sets left on the range. I don't really mind if someone leaves a target holder, or unbroken clay pigeon, but to just leave the trash I often see is inexcusable. Fortunately, I have a really nice indoor range about 5 minutes from my house. An annual membership is cheaper than than gas to the local free outdoor ranges. It's an hour and a half round trip to the closest. As a plus the indoor range is very comfortable when it is 98 degrees and 120% humidity outside.

Unlimited access. I can bring one guest, usually Clovispup. We normally go 3 times a month on average. I spend over half as much on targets, at a buck for each of us per visit, as I do on range fees.

I shoot at an indoor range, too. I have very few options (indoors or out), but none less expensive than what I pay now, which is $400 per year for unlimited access, but guests shoot for another $15 per hour in the same lane. I try to get there once a week, though life has a way of making it less than that.

Location. Location. Location. Geography is everything in this sport.

Wow, $400 a year. At $800 a year for my daughter and I to each have a membership, I'm not sure I would be shooting. I paid less than that for my Henry BB.

You got your "geography" down right, CT_Shooter. That's a huge factor in these United States! I'm most fortunate that I chose MO as my retirement state. For the most part, it is quite friendly to the shooting sports here.

BTW, I much prefer outdoor ranges. And going to either of the MO Dept. of Conservation outdoor ranges, I see very, very little trashing of those sites. I think it helps having those ROs floating around all day. They also provide broom and metal dustpans in each shooting booth for users to clean up their shot brass -- either to take home, or put in a brass recycle barrel.

I didn't notice clovishound exaggerating in the least bit. Our local weather man has started using the words "higher" or "high humidity" in his forecast the last week or so. I didn't know profanity was allowed during weather reports. Hot & humid are definitely my very least favorite weather conditions; uh, other than tight tornado cells going overhead during severe storming!

Wow, S.H., that's a nice collection of fancy targets you got there. A variety of paper targets are for sale at my range for a quarter each, but the preferred target of the Wednesday-Thursday-Friday morning old guy club is a generic white paper plate with orange dot stuck in the center. Today orange dots were unobtanium, so fragments of orange clays were substituted and were attached to the plates with scotch tape. We can't be wasting good boolit money on expensive fancy targets.

Boy am I blessed $15/year membership here for our range & we can get to 1000 yds. When we want to it's about 20 minutes to govt. land & we can shoot there.

$165 a year for me. Get $65 back if you clean up once in awhile. Shoot any time all year.

For me, it's very easy to get the work hours in around the club. In fact, we are not quite halfway through the year and I already have almost 20 hours in. Too bad I don't get "extra credit"!

My range fees were $80 a year till I turned 65 and now they are $30 but I donate $50 to the youth program.

We had a burn barrel at the range for decades but now can't burn anything. By law people can't even smoke but they do and no one says anything.

I'm not a smoker, but is your range outdoors, ventilated indoors?
If outdoors that seems a bit much.
