Ordered the single shot 30-30 Friday

I was back in Rice Lake, WI last Friday, so I stopped in at the local Henry Dealer, from which you can almost see the factory, and ordered the 30-30 single shot as I've been threatening to do since Henry offered that option. Of course, they don't ship directly from the plant, they have to go through a distributor, too, so I should have it anytime from in a week to who knows when :). Actually, the manager called, confirmed that two (only 2!?) were available from the four distributors they work with, and locked one in, so it should show up fairly soon. I'll report further when I lay hands on it. It'll be the carrot on a stick for my PT following the next knee replacement project (good thing we have only two ;)).

congrats on ordering the 30-30 .... do you load your own ammo .. :?: .. if so, you will have the option to load highly aerodynamic spitzer bullets that can take the old 30-30 to new heights .. :D .. I'm really looking forward to hearing your use and range reports .... understood on knee replacement .... been there, done that

Congrats in advance! Look forward to hearing what you think of it, how it shoots, etc., along with the obligatory pictures!

Perfect combo choice of the Henry .30-30, and the carrot.
Congrats!

{And hope the PT goes really well and quickly for you!}

Glad to hear that Henry is finally offering their single shot in the 30-30. The 30-30, after all, has been a traditional favorite in break open single shots for many, many years. Keep us posted.

You will love it! I got the 357 mag being reamed to 357 max. Two more weeks of shoulder PT for me then back to the range. Good luck with your rifle and PT.

The Single Shots are a lot of fun. Im really enjoying the 357 especially after I made the spring mod. Ive shot it about 3 times now and I enjoy picking clays off the bank with it.

just curious, other than the obvious number of rounds in the rifle, what differences (if any) have you noticed in recoil/muzzle blast/handling and such between your single shot and lever action 357's

The recoil in the BBB is a little less because it weighs more. But the recoil in the first place is a non issue its just not a factor for me. There is less barrel weight on the single shot which makes it easier to shoot it longer than the BBB. There is cases where barrel weight works for you though as long as it balances correctly. I like the way it handles for me. I also think a red dot on the gun would be just as fun for a plinking rifle. I just decided to try a scope. Muzzle blast is about the same as the BBB. One thing I like about the single shot is it slows youre pace down and gives you a chance to just kick back.

makes sense .... have you loaded any rounds for it with spitzer bullets .. :?: .. my bet is they would really perform
