Are Single Shots Shipping Yet?

Does anyone have any updates on the single shots? This delay has been puzzzling, to say the least. I’m thinking Henry must be having some major design/manufacturing issues with these rifles.

I asked "Henry Arms" about this last week or so. Here was my reply from Patrick on 11/10/17

Good Morning Dale,

Thank you for your interest in Henry and for reaching out. After a few delays the Single Shots have started to ship to distributors as of last week. I can’t speak to specific orders but they should be hitting shelves shortly. Your best bet is to fill out this form and someone will reach out to you directly about availability

So, I'm thinking they should be around soon! I'm interested in getting the .223

There are some brass single shots on gunbroker. There in 44 mag and 45-70. One of the 45-70's sure has some awesome wood on it. Al

Judging from the recent Q+A session I think Henry Repeating arms has been overwhelmed with the demand for their new products. Folks seem to be swarming for Henry's new style and old. I think they are having a hard time keeping up (catching up) with demand.

I think I might like the looks of the checkered model better than the brass model. On another forum there is a guy who has one and has already shot it in 44 mag. Im tempted to get one in 44 mag just because I need one. Al

I’m trying to diside if I want a single shot or lever in 45-70. Leaning towards the SS though. Wonder how they will shoot. Can’t wait for a range report on one. Hopefully they will be available for Christmas .

while I have no interest whatsoever in any single shot rifle, pistol, or shotgun, I'm also looking forward to range/use reports on Henry's single shot line of rifles .... out of the box our CCH 45-79 weighs 8.1 lbs .... add 4 rounds and it will be noticeably heavier .... their single shot (blued) 45-70 does come with a recoil pad and weighs 6.83 lbs + the weight of a single round .... based on firing ours, I believe the recoil of a single shot firing a full power round will be brutal at best .... a Cowboy Action load will have less recoil but will still be harder than the same round in a lever model .... it is most certainly going to be interesting to hear from folks who spend time on the range with these rifles

I also wonder how costumizable these rifles will be. Do you think we’ll have the option of adding different barrels like a bull barrel or a longer one?

I doubt it. Not unless an aftermarket for Henry's kicks in. During the Q+A Anthony said the barrels are NOT interchangeable.

Hmmm... it’s interesting that there seem to be brass receiver models out there. I thought the steel ones were going to come first.

Ive been watching gunbroker every night for the single shots. I ran across this one tonight. Man does it ever have some nice wood on it. Its a 308 and I love that caliber but I dont really need a 308.

You aren't kidding about the wood on that one - someone got a pretty nice deer gun for $350 - if they are willing to take that nice piece of walnut into the woods...

Yornoc3,

I was wondering if you could tells us how the rifle balaces in you hands. Does it feel rear heavy, front heavy or just right.

The rifle balances just behind the hinge pin, I'd say dead neutral. Adding a scope and mounts will probably make it slightly butt heavy, but not much with a light scope. Also, since I found some 45-70 snap caps, I can report that the trigger pull is a lot less than the weight of the rifle, in the 4 lbs range, I'd say. It's pretty crisp, too, no creep, just a little over-travel. I was surprised at that, I thought the safety features might make the trigger a bit "spongy" or "creepy".
I've been remiss on getting some pic.s up, but it's on my to do list ;) .

Cabellas in Denver today. Two single shots. One in 223, another in 243. Beautiful rifles and very easy to handle, lightweight and quick to the shoulder. Very solid.

I am thinking the 243 will be my choice, since I don’t want to wait on the 270.

I'd buy the 45-70 today if I saw it....
